So, do they want you to grind the stump out? I've always thought about "what happens when" the tree needs to come down when I see houses built around trees. That takes tree hugging to a whole new level.

No, I cut it below the deck level, so they will put new decking over the hole, and same for the hole in the roof.

Before you close the deck in, Treat the stump with stump rot and then with whatever you treat your foundation with as it will draw Termites...

How tall was the tree and how long did it take for you to get it down?

Very Nice work man, I have had the owner of removing 2 of these in my course of 12 years of climbing.
1 in a deck and 1 through the roof of a house.
The one through the deck I was not worried about but the one over through the roof was a nightmare.
Damn I miss the nightmare lol great job
