Lee- Not only does the stump to be treated but the tap roots also. Took down a bradford pear last year, ground the stump and treated what was left. This year we had about a hundred saplings starting to sprout off the taproots. Had to dig up the yard to treat the dam roots too.

I let a big *ss oak tree dictate where we put our pool in and how we landscaped our backyard, I couldn't stand the thought of cutting it down. Installed the pool in the spring of that year and the tree was dead by end of summer.

Damn I miss the nightmare lol great job
If I had a dollar for every tree I've taken out of a deck....I would have at least 20 bucks. I've done trees in alot of tight spots, but this last one was a challenge. Oh Well.....Good to know I can still rig em down if I have to.

This one was only about 70 ft. but large trunk wood. It took 2 days to bring it down.

    Thumbs up Nice work!

was just wondering why you didnt have A crane in on that job?You could have road the ball to the top of the tree and set A strap or two in it,and took the whole head off. Then maybe took the tree in like two or three pieces with the crane got some saleable logs out of the deal to pay for the crane and got it done in about A quarter of the time. And it would have been A hell of A lot safer(house wise).Or could you not get A crane close enough to it?We often use A 25ton terex and there is nothing that that boom in not capable of.104ft hookheight and the jib 140+hookheight.although rigging trees is not recommended with use of the jib it will still get you by in close with them 110-130'poplar trees.

    Post OH?

almost forgot how are those huskys holding up for you?Husky is my saw of choice unfortunatly they cancelled all my local dealers out because they wanted them to take on full inventory meaning stock $30,000+ worth of there inventory and they could no longer afford to deal with husky. There was A time I had A 3120,two 288xp's lites,A 371xp,A few 55.and A couple 335xps in my trucks.I really liked them but the company really let me down now I have turned to stihl and dont believe they run as good as huskys but they do the job.

I have used cranes in the past, but there was no room to get a crane in on this job, and it was located on an island as well.
We concidered using a helicopter, but in the end just decided to rig it down with ropes. I use husky's and stils and they are both good.
