Exclamation TRED BARTA! Real OR Fake?

you all know who i am talking about. Mr. Tred Barta on the OLN network with his fishing/hunting show

i just want to know if ya'll think he is real or fake. seems to me that alot seems ok, then i just see stuff sometimes, or stuff he says, that is so stupid its rediculous.

he also writes articles in a fishin magazine that i get. one he went on and on how anyone who uses yo-zuri lures is an idiot, and that they are wasting their money, and stuff like that.

HEY! I want some MAJOR feedback on this!

Heres the theme.. TRED BARTA! MAN ? MYTH? LEGEND? FAKE ?

YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

personally im undeicided. i know he does alot of good things for kids and stuff, just not sure about the fishing .

    Hey Jesse,
I have talked with him when he came to speak at the fishing club last year in Greensboro.

Here is my take....He is a showman.....So just ask yourself what a showman is...50% skill/50% fluff for show.

He put on a demo on how to wire fish, which was the craziest thing I have seen, spilling drinks and loud. The whole time my table was sitting there thinking hasn't this guy ever heard of a spro?

Then he calls us pussys because we won't run to the other side of the stream every time we go out.

On the flip side....He doesn't care what you, I or anyone else thinks about him and what he does. Thats cool, because we all really only have to answer to one person when its all said and done.

So to answer your question....lets define Showman

Show-man (Sho man) A person who entertains and is found to be sometimes the man, sometimes mythical, sometimes a legend and sometimes fake for the sake of pleasing the audience.

    as little as possible
He has held more world records than probably everyone on this board combined and put Bigeye catches on the dock that may never be repeated. That said, his self promotion is about as irritating as Terrell Owens!

I still open Sport Fishing to the last page first, though

Ask him yourself... He pops up here once in a while... He's a prettty good fisherman but he does go past the point of good sense on some ideas. I'll use for example... Describing how to run the canyons with a 16' Boston whaler. Dropping off fuel cans to pick back up after figuring set and drift just aint gonna happen. Most people can lose a telephone pole size chunk of wood if they get more than a quarter mile and for more than a few minutes. I don't think is prudent of him recommending that stuff.
Yes a lot is show. You gotta have it. The guy can fish pretty well which is more than I can say of other big name Writers... Ego maniac? There's some of that in all of us....

No. 1, Tred is a legend. Anyone who doesn't believe that is kidding himself. No. 2, Tred is a showman. What's wrong with that, the KING Elvis was a showman. No. 3 , Tred does do it his way. What's wrong with that. It does produce a lot of World Records. No.4, he has big b-lls. Check out killing a boar with a knife.

Yeah he is brash but he backs it up in my book and he hunts in the most sporting ways, gives the edge back to the game.

P.S. Also one of the top sportsmen for helping kids. Thanks Tred, I hope to meet you and shake your hand one day.

The man is made of different stuff than most folks.... To start with he's a new yorker.... Right off the bat that makes him loud, brash and opinionated....

The way I see it the guys a ball of energy. In his younger years before a shade of wisdom set in, that energy tooks his body, brain quite disengauged to waters where many won't go even now. They caught fish that few people knew existed. They bathed in the glory that that brought them...

Enter age. The body isn't quite as willing, the brain has had a chance to calculate the chances it has taken... But the soul still needs that rush that it got from the fame of the fish.... So a need exists to stoke that fire with out commiting the moral sins of cannon running in small crafts... Enter writing... He wrote and still does write articles that stand folks hair on end. That brings a rush... Defending ones bash statements is another tool of the adrenaline junkie... But that gets old. Enter the television... Yet again brash and bold... More manufacutured adrenaline... Then you look at the charity work he has done. Many have benefited. Its a good thing... But among those who have benefited is Tred... Its fanning the old adrenaline flames...

Brash... Yes Bold.... Yes Legend... Yes Real... Yes...

Jesse what you are whitnessing is the aging of one of the true adrenaline junkies. He's the real deal making his way through life the best way he knows how. Love him, hate him, his is Tred Barta... Young and Fearless... And aging gracefully.... The best way he knows how....

We should all be so fortunate...

Oh he's real all right. I put my assessment of him in the showman category and read his article first each month as well. Sometimes good info, sometimes arrogance, always Tred. But Chilli, that's one hell of an analysis and probably pretty damned accurate. Now the show on snap shooting jack rabbits with a longbow...that was funny. Maybe he'd have run them down in his younger days.
