Tred Barta.......Fishing God?

Is Tred Barta truely the greatest fisherman on the East Coast?

I like Tred, I met him when he was in Morehead, but I don't think he's the best. The Oregon Inlet boys up the road are top notch in my opinion(Arch Bracher,Brynner Parks,Benji Stansky,etc.)

No way. Hes just "portrayed" that way through his tournaments and his shows. I think there are far better fisherman out there, either commercial or charter captains.

Tred is a great fisherman, but, he is not the best fisherman on the East Coast, in my opinion. Arch, Brynner, Omie Tillet, lots of names come to mind that I believe Tred would even say are better than he is. I do believe he has caught as many Bigeyes on hook and line as most if not anyone. To be truthful, I would consider Brian Harrington much better than Tred. I think the BOX could show Tred a trick or three. Then there is also the 'Biscoto' and Otis. I guess it would really be dependant on hat species you were talking about catching. I wouldn't bet against Deep C with your money when it comes to swords and sharks and Sails. I believe Tred is the best at exposure but not the best on the East Coast. Really not even in my top twenty...All that being said...How the hell would I know anyway, I have never even fished with him.

Not to mention all the commercial boys who would truly shame him pound for pound day in and out.

I think Tred is good. He is a great outdoorsman hunting and fishing. There are so many great captains and fishermen. Alot of good ones in the ones mentioned above. I'd also like to add Eddie Herbert, Paul Spencer and Jimmy Fields.

Sensationalized comes to mind when referring to his T.V. show. But that is what gets and keeps your attention. I do like watching him though. Was going to volunteer last year at his boys and girls tournament, but could not make the trip down. Might try again this year though. Sounded very interesting and worth-while.
