    hey all, just wondering, im travelling in a week and need to know If im able to take the ilanders and other on my backpack. (without the hooks)

    personally, i would check them in with your luggage, i don't think i would take them on as a carryon. They may get thru, but figure extra time at security.

    I did to Fla. Some were with hooks. The security did not say anything but good luck fishing. Carried reels in a backback with my tackle. I carried my 2 piece rods on the plane strapped toghter to carry.

    I don't know how it is in the States, but here, even fly hooks are forbidden in carry on luggage. One of my mates - his son flew up from Calgary to do some river salmon fishing and couldn't bring his fly collection nor his fly reels (they're a weapon when swung overhead). It had to go down below. And, just forget about taking rods on board.
