    Top Marlin Lures

Melton Tackle has listed their top 10 Marlin Lures of all time on their website. What do you guys think? Does anyone have any that are missing?

I'm about to buy a whole new spread and I need a few candidates.

I would say that is a very good list. You can't go wrong with any of those.

That would be a general top 10, now each local will have their own favorites. I definately will never leave the dock without a couple sizes/colors of Bart's Breakfast.

    Thumbs up Top 10

The guys that were consulted to come up with the top 10 grind on the water hundreds of days a year. They see thousands of fish I'm sure. I'll take their word for it when they consider something to be at the top of the list. Fish On!!!

I believe that list came from Dr. Peter Wright so Im not surprised Mold Craft is at the top, My.02 Black Bart are second to none, mini 1656 black over purple foil, Brassilano, EB yft color, Zula, warrior, El squid jr, Super pro jet put a couple mixed in with your other lures and you will see the difference, most people just dont want to spend $50 to $100 a lure to buy them so they dont fish with them. The cost adds up but worth it. My.02

Here's the seven line all lure spread we're considering:

    L Long rigger-Islander/Bally
    L Short rigger- Moldcraft Hooker
    L Flat-Skirtless Black Bart Abalone
    WWWB-Joe Yee Superplunger
    R Flat- Black Bart 1656
    R Short- Moldcraft Reel Tight
    R Long- Moldcraft Wide Range

I'd be most appreciative if anyone has any suggestions for colors, sizes or changes. We're pretty raw and really want to catch a blue this year. Fishing mostly Atlantis and Veatch canyons.

    Thanks.

LET ME GIVE YOU A CASE SCENARIO HERE:

IF ONE BUYS A LURE AND GOES OUT AND CATHES A BLUE MARLIN ON IT.....WOW...BANGO TANGO! THIS LURE IS THE HEAT HE THINKS!!! YEP...THIS LURE IS THE SHIT SO HE THINKS...HE THEN TELLS BUDDY #1 ABOUT IT AND THEN HE ALSO BUYS ONE...HE THEN TELLS BUDDY #2 AND SO ON AND SO ON.......YU GET THE PICTURE...IT'S A WORD OF MOUTH THING

I TRULY BELIEVE THAT WHEN YOU SWIM A LURE ....ANY LURE...PAST A HUNGRY MARLIN HE WILL EAT IT NO MATTER WHAT BRAND IT IS...PERIOD!......A BLUE MARLIN DOESN'T CARE IF IT IS FREAKING EXPENSIVE.....EL CHEAPO.........WOOD...... ACRYLIC ...OR PLASTIQUE....HE DOESN'T CARE IF IT IS MADE IN KANGAROO TOWN ...MAUIVILLE.... SOFTHEAD CITY.....OR HATRUS,NC

WHEN IT'S TIME FOR HIM TO KILL SOMETHING...IT'S LIGHTS OUT I TELL YA !!!!!....SIANARO SENOR .... I AM A KILLING LCOMOTIVE AND I AM COMING TO GET YA!!!!

THERE HAVE PROBLABY BEEN MORE BLUE MARLIN CAUGHT WITH A SEA WITH /MEDIUM BALLYHOO IN CAROLINA THAN ANY OTHER RIG....TWO SEASONS AGO ON THE RUN-OFF...WE CAUGHT 11 BM ON A NAKED DING BAIT.....FOR CAROLINA....THAT'S A LOT OF BM ON A DINK

    NEXT CHOICE....BLUE/WHITE ILANDER /BALLY.....OR PRO ILANDER/BALLY

MY ALL ARTIFICIAL CHOICE WOULD BE THE RARE SCH LURE....BUILT BY ATLANTIC BEACH RESIDENT STEVE HODGE

I WOULDN'T TAKE ONE GRAND A PIECE MY LURES WE CALL HUGO EYES ....THE HEADS WERE POURED DURING HURRICAINE HUGO....THE BARAMETRIC PRESSURE DROPPED WHILE THESE WERE SETTING UP AND THE EYES WENT FUNKY AND WILD ONCE THE HEAD SET UP.......

I DO NOT THINK THESE LURES -SCH- ARE BEING BUILT ANYMORE

    SCH LURES : www.wahoonbox.com/videos/lures.wmv

PUT YOURSELF IN POSITION TO WHERE THE MARLIN LIVES WITH THE COMBINATION OF FOOD&COMFORT(TEMP)....ONE CAN PRESENT JUST ABOUT ANY LURE MADE AND HE WILL ATTACK

I COMPARE A BLUE MARLINS ATTITUDE TO THAT OF A DOG.....MOVE INTO HIS TERRIORY AND HE WILL ATTACK

    Top 10??

Yeah.......We pulled a rubber chicken once, just joking around in a crowd of boats off Bimini. Wouldn't believe it had I not seen it, a small blue bout 300lbs took a swipe at it. Too bad it was hookless, that would of been a hell of a story. "TYSON CHICKEN CATCHES BLUE OFF BIMINI!!" The grocery stores would have sold out!
