    Tipping Transporters?

I am starting to make arrangements for total retirement to Wilmington, NC. I have made arrangements for a boat slip starting March. I have a hauler lined up for mid November to take the boat and trailer to our home.
My son will meet the hauler at our house and sign for delivery. Here is the question is it customary to tip the driver (if so how much) when the boat is delivered?
The driver is not the company owner. Interstate haulers is going to handle the move. They have their own drivers on staff. They were reasonable price wise and were very attentive as far as customer service. Their website seems like they know what they are doing. I just need an idea of how much of a tip to give.
The cost of the move is $818.00 + tolls. I'm thinking about $900.00 total.
That's all the info I have, any advice is appreciated,
    Thanks
    Barry

Barry, I think a tip to the driver would be very kind, just remember to tip him in cash and not included in the CK to the company as the driver may never see it... When you going to ge here, boat waiting...

    Thanks Lee.
Any idea about a how much? I was thinking $150.00.
In answer to your question not soon enough. Will be sending the boat down in November. I will start spending a few weeks at a time starting March. Going to start renovating. I will be going back and forth until the end of the year. Then Mary Ann and I will be there permanent. Sorry never got up with you last week. Way to busy got a slip looking for an apartment for my mother, spent time with our son and daughter (in law) and grand daughters. Made a trip to Clayton, our son is selling his out and looking to move to MHC. It seems Sea Grant has offered him his own facility in Marshallburg. The Marine Aquaculture Research Center (MARC) which is interesting because his name is Marc. He is also interviewing with William and Mary University in Virginia as Assistant director for Virginia Sea Grant. I think he is some what torn about that one. It seems more of an administrative position. He loves doing research. But MaryAnn and I figure he will do whats best for his family. What is the difference? Two hours to MHC or 4 hours to Virginia. Right now it's 10 hours to Clayton from here. Any way looking forward to fishing with you.
    Regards,
    Barry

Barry I think the driver would be real happy with with a $150 tip. It'll probably make his day Id bet most people would just slip him a 20.

Thanks Duckie. They seem to be on the ball.
Maybe once I get it down there and in a slip I will put some hours on her. Splashed her in April ran her twice. One royal pain to splash her off the trailer alone (even with bunk glides) she wont move off the trailer. With a topped off tank she weighs in at about 5400 pounds.
