    "Tipping" sabikis

Do you guys bait your sabikis or is it really not needed? I'm planning to use a sabiki for the first time tomorrow

jer if you can find a product called bag o worms they work great!
cut the strips up into little pieces and put the little pieces on the hooks
if you cant find them then the sabaki will work fine without them.

    Sabiki to it

If the bait are thick, and chumming's got them going then don't bother. I find tipping the sabiki rigs to be a pain in the arse. I also save my gulp or other scented plastic worms and use them instead of shrimp as a "tip".

I'm going to order it online, we don't have that for sale here in Brazil.

I do have Berkley Gulp! bloodyworms and shrimp, will try using little pieces of bloodyworm then

I tried a tiny piece of squid on a sabiki rig in the keys and rapidly caught a number of grunts in a few minutes. Decided to just go buy my bait.

Tipping is a pain the rig blows around and it is easy to get hooked

This afternoon I tried the sabiki with small hooks tipped with very small pieces of Gulp! bloodyworm. I fished off of the jetty for about 90 minutes and didn't catch anything other than algae (sargassum?). I thought I had a bite as the rod bent when I was reeling in but it was probably a big algae ball... all the 6 hooks had algae on them. For a few seconds also I thought I was going to lose the rig to the rocks.

I tried chumming with small pieces of sardines (bought it to use as bait but had to throw it away to defrost and clean the fridge)

I will try again with and without the bloodyworm from the surf instead of jetty next friday or next week.
