There is an over abundance of assholes.

last friday NOAA sent out a request for comment on the Southeast fisheries for Red Snapper which I posted here if you want to read.
NOAA Fisheries Service Requests Comments on a Proposed Rule Intended to End Overfishing of Red Snapper in the South Atlantic

So One idiot decides to send his comments without reading the bulletin. He responds to the listserver at NOAA. A list server only send emails. Emails it receives are redistributed to the group on the list. The bulletin gives the specific response information for comments.
    Here is his email

    "Jo Ser [....@yahoo.com]
    to:sero.fisherybulletins @noaa.gov

Subject: Re: FB10-068 Comment Period on S Atl Snapper-Grouper Am 17A

We are making reefs inside the 3 mile limit now, in Florida. Florida waters are under State control. We put sacks of chum on the reefs. The reefs are covered with snapper, grouper, sea bass and other bottom fish. "

His email goes out to every one of the thousands of emails on the list prompting this response

    ".....@MyFWC.com]"
    Jo Ser; sero.fisherybulletins @noaa.gov

Who is “we”? Are these artificial reefs legal? What governmental entity holds the reef site permits or is actively involved in building artificial reefs? FWC is unaware of any private citizens authorized to legally build private artificial reefs off the Florida east coast in state waters. All legal artificial reef site permits in state waters are held by local coastal governments who oversee the legal reef construction. Due to liability issues the Army Corps of Engineers has not in the past 15 years and is not currently issuing artificial reef permits to private individuals. Jon Dodrill, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission Division of Marine Fisheries Management 850-487.0580 x 209. "

This response also goes through the list server and out to every body on the list prompting this.

    "...@cox.net
to: Dodrill, Jon; Jo Ser; sero.fisherybulletins @noaa.gov
I sure hope these will be public reefs and the numbers published on already accessible web sites. When and how often do these chumming activities take place?

    Niceville, FL"

Now every idiot on the list decides it's spam and sends a reply email to the list server saying "please remove me from list" which then goes to everyone on the list. My inbox is full of idiot emails. A couple of posters tried to explain the situation but that only brought another flurry of emails to remove. the worst offenders are the Blackberry users. Evidently they don't see the whole email at once so they make poor decisions.

    It still hasn't stopped.

One guy sent out an email with this subject

"Good grief people, these are not going to NOAA. You are just adding to the problem. STOP IT! " prompting another to respond

    "
STOP SENDING ME THESE MESSAGES, PLEASE"

The last response echoed my sentiments
"I've thoroughly enjoyed this all weekend. That being said. Please keep me on the e-mail list. I'm gonna miss you guys and gals. I'm jotting down all the email addresses from the not too bright who keep asking to be removed. I'll look at the list every day and just smile."

I now have a whole list of good emails that I can sell to some spammer. the list server does not expose the emails but the Please remove emails forwarded to the group have the originator's email.

I have to go now and delete more.
