Couldn't catch a mess of fish at sea world with a dip net.
Tell me why?
A few co workers just asked me a question about fishing as I'm the only one in the freaking building that would rather fish than breathe.
Sometimes it gets annoying. "Hey byrd whats the best bait for croaker?"
Well the question today was line. I recommened a few brands and told them how much it costs. They then said well isn't that kinda expensive? Is there something else that would work that is cheaper? My response " You asked, I told you what to buy do whatever the F*ck you want, but don't cry to me when you lose fish"
I used to work at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center filleting fish and doing other trivial jobs. We would see it every day. Dudes roll up in a $50K truck towing a $80K+ boat with more gold than fort knox. Tiagras/ Internationals/ Custom rods, big coolers, gaffs, the entire works. Then they would come into the OIFC store and buy 1000yds of Shakespeare shur strike line for 4 bucks and say they were going to use that as leader.
They would launch the boat, which was amusing in itself, and head off to the stream. They would come back with nothing, nada, zip and be bitching about how the line broke at the boat, or how they barley touched the line with the gaff and pop goes the line.
Will someone please tell me why people spend 100's of thousands of dollars on boats, baits, rods, and reels but then skemp on the line?

Well maybe because they take their cheap brother -in- law fishing. He was asked to get the tackle at the shop, while the boat owner launched the boat. Just a guess !
and this is what he bought On Sale. Spent 65 on snacks and 25 on a hat !
$ 1.00 dollar on line, $1.00 on hooks, and the rest on sinkers....LOL
