This will piss some people off...
but thats just wrong. 3 per boat for us and thats plenty and they have 6 on the deck tubed and haulin another through the gate. I've commercial fished but that aint a snapper. That fish is amazing and unique and its populations crashes and soars depending on longline pressure. Sorry Adam, but I will say I never longlined except for an aquarium trying to get an opah..

Much better than last week. AT least they threw back the small one.
I didn't notice the disclaimer last week but this week had a 'the opinions blah blah blah are not necessarily blah blah of discovery' did they have one before episodes of deadliest catch?
I watched it last nite and I was curious as to why there was no more bycatch shown? I think I only say one small shark. I would think with 40 miles of line and a thousand hooks there would be lots of bycatch. I guess they did not want to show all the other fish they may have killed and tossed over.
I can see it's dangerous for you, but if the government trusts me, maybe you could.

Couple things:
1. If "chomper" is hated so much...how come other captains are willing to give him current charts to the area he normally doesn't fish? Are the producers trying to generate drama that isn't there?
2. There's bycatch...notice the mahi the one guys was cleaning on camera? What about those mako jaws the one guy was flashing to the camera?
3. Scott can't catch a break to save his ass...first he has to tow Linda all the way home, then one of his crew breaks his wrist. At least he was on the fish.
4. The one guy on Linda's boat slip/sliding all over the deck while cleaning that sword was pretty funny.
5. Surfer dude needs to watch where he puts his feet...they didn't make too much out of it, but he came damn near close to getting yanked overboard when that bouy line got around his foot.
6. Looking at the Discovery website it shows that Scott has Lisa Natanson, NOAA biologist on board to tag and release sharks, #1 I haven't seen her and #2. Thankfully she picked Scotts boat over Chomp's.
Guys: This is a TV show. They embellish everything to make the viewer interested. I betcha the Swordfishing Captains told Discovery that they wouldn't allow much filming of by-catch.
Robja, you stated it well. Last night was my first viewing of this show and I couldn't believe that they were ONLY catching a "few" swords and nothing else. I know they are editing out all the bycatch.
