Bobby, I'm pretty sure Oncslr and Tuna Taxi are both right. For the first time this year in Va. We have to record the GPS coordinates for our duck blind licenses. We used a GPS to get our coordinates and I checked these vis a vis Google Earth---- They were off a right good distance--- about 50 to 60 yds. The problem was two fold. Yes Google Earth shows in Deg, Min., sec. so you have to convert for this or get a reading on your GPS this way. Also, at least where out blinds are, Google is using NAD27 while the GPS was in WGS84. We re-measured changing to NAD27 and were dead balls on.
I don't know if it is true or not, but have been told that Google Earth may have some areas in one datum and other areas in another.

What you are looking at are the same address spelled in a different ways.

One is reading in degrees- minutes- then decimals... The other is reading in degrees- minutes- seconds... Then maybe tents after that.

There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in a degree, a minute of latitude is one nautical mile.

30 seconds for example is .5 minute. Many hand helds can be adjusted to display in several ways... See if yours can and you will find the address is almost the same...

A degree of latitude is on average 69 miles .If it were 1 mile the circumference of the entire earth would be 360 Miles.

    Decimals
    vs.
    Minutes/seconds

Units of measure are different. Once you get to using the same unit of measure, i.e. Decimals or Min/sec, doesn't matter which, you need to also be sure the maps and gps are using the same datum, i.e. nad83(wgs84) vs. nad27.

If you are only a little confused you are doing very well Bobby.
