    Sunglasses

Hey all. I'm not sure which forum this should go under, so if your a mod or the admin feel free to move it.

I was just wondering which kind of sunglasses do you prefer. Like which color. I bought a pair of Rudy Project glasses this past year. I wear prescriptions so i had to pay extra to get my prescriptions made to go inside of them. They come out so you can clean them. Right now I wear like a Blackest/purple color.

It helps with the glare in the afternoon. But the morning glare is still bad. Also. they say you can see in the water better with polarizes glasses, but it doesnt help me any. I can actually see better without the sunglasses.

Just wondering what your options are. Also, Im usually between 5-50 miles offshore. Not sure if that makes any difference.

I'm not to prescription...yet... I have possibly the biggest pile of glasses of anyone I know... Costas, mauis, waves, you name it... I often use specific pairs for specific conditions... With all that plastic and glass though I have come to really like some cheapish ones from Flying fisherman... These $20-30 specs have three models that flip my pancakes... They have one with oversize glass lenses that I'm really fond of... A little lighter shade than the costa grand Cayman... that gives me all around preformance.
Yes polarization is key... If it aint right it won't help at all if it is right it will stop the glare dead in its tracks... Also the oversized lense and polarization are better for your eye protection long term. I don't give a crap about my fashion sense so long as the baby blues are safe...

There are a lot of brands out there that claim to be the BEST. Some people choose sunglasses due to frame style, glass colors, price, what their friends are wearing, if they look cool, etc..., what you should be worrying about is Sun Protection, nothing else. Costa del Mar & Maui Jim make about the finnest sunglasses you ever wear and most of their models you can have them prescribed. Also they come in different styles & colors just in case looking cool is your thing. Yes, they are a bit expensive but do you rather pay a couple hundreds or burn your eyes? Don't be cheap! Another thing, you can be 5, 50, 100 miles offshore or at the pond behind your house if the glasses you're wearing dont have a good polarization the glare will mess your eyes. Be Cool!

It really depends on a lot on water clarity and where you live. I spend a lot of time up in Connecticut on a charter boat with merkey green water... so I have Costa Del Mar Swordfish sunglasses, they have protection all around my eyes and are durable and I have a standard gray lens for all conditions because I occasionally travel south. However if you are in strictly merkey water id go with a green mirror lens if your an offshore blue water person then i'd go with blue mirror lenses, hope this helps a bit.

I wear Costa's. But if I'm not mistaken, I think that most sunglass company's will make a pair of perscriptions up for you (for a charge) I'm not sure of the cost but it may be worth it to look into.

dont know to much about prescription glasses but i do also need help on different types of shades for different types of water.

i got 3 pairs of costa and they are the hammerhead, swordfish, and forget the other kind but i got one with smoke lenses, one with blue mirror lenses, and one with amber lenses and to be honest..
they all sucked in florida for the glare on the water!!!

what is the recommendation for down there or anywhere with bright skies!?
