Alrighty thanks guys. I tired to go for the style as well as the protection. I just would like to be able to see down in the water a little better. I fish off of NC/SC 5 - 50 miles usually.
I'm particularly fond of my Costa Reef Raiders. I dont need prescriptions (im still young) but they come with three pair of interchangeable lenses. I've got gray, amber, and vermillion. the gray worked great for me down in the keys, as I never had any problem with glare and could see gaffer and slammer dolphin from a few hundred yards away. the amber is great for back country especially when you get into the skinny water, they act like a light-gathering rifle scope. the vermillion is supposed to be great for target shooting and stuff in the woods, but I cant stand the pink hue so I've never used them. for florida all-purpose fishing I've had good results with the gray and blue-mirror costa lenses
Calabash, The quality of the polarization makes a difference in your visibility and glare reduction. I carried Rudy Project when they first came on the scene in the US but did not find the quality to be what I desired for my patients at that time. They might have improved since then as they have grown. The main focus of Rudy Project has always seemed to be cycling and olympic sports where the polarization is not always desired so they have many lens options with no polarization, just tinted. For optical clarity I would much rather have the prescription in the lens rather than have the insert.
If your prescription was able to be put into that insert than putting your prescription into a Maui Jim or Costa Del Mar(search under my user name for more information about the differences in prescription technology) frame should not be a problem. Kaenon also makes a pretty awesome sunglass with good prescription options. I also hear many good things about the Ocean Waves prescription sunglasses but have no personal experience. For those over 40 that need prescription for distance and near vision the Maui Jim and Kaenon brands have the best option available("free form" or "digitally surfaced lenses") for the no line bifocals(progressive lens). For the offshore use most folks prefer the gray lens color.
The C-Mates mentioned earlier are only for the over 40-45 crowd that needs some help reading but have no problems at distance.
