Successful relationships for fishermen. Is it possible?

Well guys after playing the break up and get back together game for the past year or so another girl bites the dust and my passion had a lot to do with the departure. How do you show a girl that she is #1 in your life but once a week you just need to get your fishing fix? I mean the off season thing wouldn't even work. 4-5 months the boat just sits in the yard and I'm all hers. Trips, date nights, quality time everyway I could slice it but when that boat goes in and I disappear once a week the shit hits the fan. Meanwhile most nights during the week I just sit here at the crib and do nothing while she works her second job, has girls night out, and her being a teacher and getting up at 5:00 every morning doesn't really help motivate her to hang out during the week. But I respect all those things and never once bitched about anything except maybe that I wished we hung out more during the week. Then when the weekend comes and I go fishing and her schedule is free I am suppose to be there to chill. I don't get it . It's a shame because when things were going good it was great and to top it off she was probably the most beautiful girl I ever been with which makes it even harder. I dunno what to do. I'm bummed. Maybe killing a few tog tomorrow will cheer me up. Sorry guys but I had to vent. Thanks for listening.

Sorry your heart hurts. Good news is she is gone and you can fish more than once a week now. I am sure the heartstrings are a little plucked right now...but she was NOT worth the effort if the shit would hit the fan for fishing once a week. Time will heal and if you truly love to fish she would have made you miserable forever. Find a new one and "train" her better from the beginning. Best of luck bro...Now go catch one tommorrow.

If you can't have one day a week to do what you enjoy then it doesn't matter how hot she is. You don't want to be a prisoner. This life is hard for a lot of women to understand but its not like you are fishing 4 days a week 52 weeks a year. Find a new chick, maybe one that fishes

She would always respond with something like this, "it's not just one day a week babe. Friday night you are rigging up and then you fish all day on Saturday and then Saturday night you are too tired to do anything."

Right from the get go I let all the gals through my life know that what I do is exactly that. I sugar coat nothing and lay it out from word one. Remember the old song "Brandy (Youre a fine girl)" . He goes on to say "what a good wife you would be ... but my life, my love and my lady is the sea" ...
Establish this up front before you let your Johnson doing the thinking for you and it will all be ok.
I'm 22 years way happily married. I travel to the Bahamas for a month, to the north east for three months, other weeks for tournies here and there. Only serves to make the marriage stronger. She knew going in that was the deal. If they don't take the package as presented and want to be controlling one sided or just plain shitty then they were worth keeping in the forst place. You didn't lose "the one".

I've found you gotta give a little (unless you are one of the lucky ones that finds a girl that loves to fish as much as you) I learned that after my first wife took off because I was gone every weekend. I had to decide what was the most important in my life. I went with family. Some go with fishing. Whatever works for you. I still fish more than most and my wife knows not to ***** about it- but I also end up cooking waffles on Saturday mornings when i'ts blowing 5 knots or less and everybodys tearing up the wahoo offshore.

Sorry to hear that dude. She wasn't the one. I think that Deep has hit it on the head here. Let it be known from the beginning that this is what they are signing up for. I am lucky enough to have an awesome woman that I have been married to for 11 years. She loves fishing, loves the boat, loves traveling to exotic locales and loves that I take the kids out any chance we get. I think however that this has a lot to do with the one I found. She is the daughter of a charter captain and has been around this all her life. It is not something unusual for her to see her husband disappear when the bite is on, if there is a boat show, if there is a tournament, or if there is a problem with the boat that needs a lot of attention. You just have to establish this at the get go that this is your life. I'm sure that she has priorities, that need attention and if they don't fit together then you don't have a match. Better to get it over with quick than to spend a couple of years to figure it out. Good luck my friend and may you find an awesome woman like mine.

Im young and dumb but I have been dating the same girl for 3 years.

Take her with once and let her experience it for herself.I know that it seems like your going be giving up your time with you buddies but let her see how happy it makes you.If she really loves you and you really love her then maybe it will become something you two enjoy to do together.My girl went with and really enjoyed it and experienced a blistering hot day on the boat and saw first hand that its a blast and something we need.Now when shes not going with me to lay up on the bow and suntan I come home and she wont let me get outta my chair, get my own dinner or anything just because she knows I had fun and Im tired and glad I made it home to be with her.Shes totally fine with crashing in the AC and watching a movie.She even squeezes the shit outta ballyhoo.

Guy's need "GUY TIME" .....If it's fishing or just hanging with your bro's.
If she can't except that.....then cut her loose.......Women are like buses.....another one will come by in a few minutes......just get on the next one.
