Stupid stuff you seen or heard around the docks!

In light of the gasing up the rod holder lets here it. Kind of like sitting at a launching ramp for an afternoon

    Here is one service call

Hi I have a problem with my steering and need to get it fixed

Ok, what is wrong with your steering what is it doing or what is not doing ????well when backing in the slip with an I/O it will only turn in one direction

Scratching my head. Mam, when its in forward gear do you have this same problem????

No its fine its only when I turn the wheel and start to back in the slip

Umm is it possible that you already have the steering wheel turned to the max in that direction....Phone went silent

Oh do I a bunch of these I am sure I have some good ones on myself too!

    Lets hear em!

How about the knucklehead that was filling the water tank in his big-arse yacht at South Jersey. Stuck the hose in, turns the water on, and went to the Lobster House. Comes back, hours later, and finds everyone scrambling around the marina, freaking out. Turns out, he put the water hose in the fuel fill, and a mix of fuel and water had been overflowing into the marina for who knows how long.

how about the guy in OC that went to fill his water tank and then packed his stuff and went home. I think he got a phone call the next morning. oops, he forgot to turn the water off. Anybody that has been to Sunset knows their is no lack of water pressure their. I think someone may have psoted pics on here but I can't find them. Needless to say the only holding the boat up were the ropes

It made it all the way to E Dock

    That's a new record.

While I was slipped at E Dock with the previous boat that's about 50yds give or take from the launch ramp. On Sunday afternoons we would hang out on the back of a motor yacht sippin and being entertained by what we have come to know and love as
    LAUNCH RAMP FOLLIES

The record for a car or truck slipping back into the water with a steep ramp especially at low tide is currently held by a VW Van that had a small CC on a trailer. It rolled back into the marina boat and trailer still attached and made it all the way to E Dock before turning into a VW submarine.

    The boat was unhurt

One day a woman asked if I could help her start her boat. I showed her how take it out of gear and turn the key. Then she didn't know how to put it in reverse so I turned her around using the lines and pushed her off....

When Franky was a little kid the Last Call was docked over on charter boat row next to the My Desire, Muff Diver and Box Lunch. I worked a little further down the dock on the Full House. Their were some priceless afternoons sitting on the picnic table watching the weekends pulling their boats from the ramp at Bahia. I am sure he has many good stories about those days.

I was drifting the IRI catching rock. This 14' boat just came up the rise from the bridge. All the guys in the 14'er tossed the lures. The current twirled the boat in a circle. Every line was twisted in a massive knot. The mexican fella fires up the engine( it should have been running) and wrapped the prop bad. I do not know what they were saying but it was foul sounding. I was busting up. As they drifted closer to the Coast Guard wall the jetty fishermen were still tossing there rigs beyond the little boat. To make matter worse for the guy. All the jetty jocks were yelling "get out of the way you knuckleheads" we are trying to fish !!!!! What a fiasco that was. The tide was a ripping incoming. It was over in a matter of minutes but funny as heck

Not on the dock LL, but not far from it

Docks or water it is still funny!

I have done some stupid ones myself we all have or do at some point.

I have been bitten by someone removing lanyards, we always leave ours in place and just take the keys. When its not in place no start alarms

Another good one when people come in to pick up thier keys and we were having a hard time finding them, its the keys with the red curly cord

I have a few.A boat I used to work the previous crew put the fuel fill in the water fill and began fueling while the boss was in the shower. That was included in the welcome to your first day of work on my boat speech.

One time I was snook fishing on a local pier where I grew up, and of course you fish for snook under the dock.I t was raining a little bit aand a tourist came to me and asked what I was fishing for under the dock.I replied, snook. She asked me if they had gone under the dock to stay dry.
