the only way to have a good light clam chowder is to just have a gray chowder. this is what you get before you add the heavy crama nd butter. what it it is the clams, potoes, broth , bacon , onoin and celery. if you add anything but the heavey cream you really will not get a good chowder. sorry but when it come to good chowder you need the heavy cream and butter!! yummmm
