Thought I would share my newest knife. As some of you know, I make these knives myself and thought I would try traditional Scandinavian style.
By stacking leather and birch bark and gluing the whole mass I get a solid handle. The birch bark is a traditional material used to make tool handles b/c it is naturally waterproof, readily available and very light.
I compress the stacked material by using 2 ss end washers and polishing them to a high shine. A few days of fun sanding/filing work, some waxing and about $60 in materials...this is the evolution of the knife.
