No, this meeting is for the Save the Summer Flounder Fishery Fund(SSFFF). This is the group who is leading the charge to avoid a virtual shutdown of the fishery over the next few years. If you're new to fishing or haven't been following the news, the regulations continue to be unrealistically tightened based on the efforts of radical environmentalists.
Under the current law and based on NMFS science we're looking at yet another drastic cut which combined with a seasonal overage last year means even tighter regs. The season will be shorter and the plentiful flatfish will have to be near-doormats to keep. One of the slim chances we have to stave off a social and economic crisis from these ridiculous proposed regs is SSFFF.
The regs won't be set at this meeting, but miss this one and you'll be looking at some lousy options when the time comes to make that decision.
