Deep, I'm not sure about the Microsoft thing, but my dad's computer guy highly recommended it. WE have it on all of our house computers and all the computers at my dad's office.

I had one with a similar name that opened up all kinds of ports. Took $200 and eight hours on line with Dell to fix the damage... That was their suggestion to me...

Yep, Ad-Aware is a free shareware program. I use it and have found it to be pretty good. If you don't want to do the install I can do it for you next weekend.

My computer was seriously infested so I took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad cleaned it and installed Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro spy sweeper. I think it cost me 150-180 software included. When I spoke to the geek he said ad-aware sucked b/c it didn't take it all off. I had ad-aware before taking it to BB. Someone should use the guy who created ABOUT:BLANK as shark bait. Slit his achilles tendons and drag him by his wrists!!

This may sound like silly quesiton, but how do you know it's infested and all?? I am getting a new computer next month and it will be my first NEW computer ... I never (knowingly) have had any problems on previous computers and certainly don't want any now ... and that list from flatbottom is pretty extensive!
