    Spreader Bar idea/question

I know all ya'll use spreaders made of squids and ballyhoos/bullyhoos for the offshore fishing. Has anyone made a spreader bar out of 6 or 9 inch shad bodies and pulled them for rockfish? I made an umbrella rig last year out of 8 inch white eels. I then used blue spike it and a q-tip and put a blue strip down the back. It worked really well when the rock where eating sand eels.
Seems like a shad spreader would work. I appreciate any input.

spreader bars are usally trolled a bit fast for stripers. Not saying it won't work but I would think a dredge teaser or umbrella would be more effective. But I did get an idea on a neat spreader bar while ducking hunt this past week. I have never duck hunted before. We needed to move our decoys and when I watched how we moved the line, a light bulb went off in my head. I wonder if this would raise a blue marlin!!!!! BTW- our speed was 7.8 knots.

    You gotta love Pino.

Byrd, give it a try. I do know this. A blue and white Iilander with a 9" shad is killer on Spring Trophy Rock.

    Bill,

I heard if you put one big goose decoy on the end of that chain, it creates rediculous side to side action for Blue Marlin Trolling.

I can't believe you never duck hunted before. Aren't you from the Eastern Shore?
