SPEED TRAPS...

Red light cams getting lots of attention down here. A few judges have declared them unconstitutional and illegal. News crews out caught on film cameras taking pics of cars clearly not running reds. "Oh may need some adjusting" My ass meanwhile they're collecting $180 on eacth one of those "Mistakes" .
They had a speed trap set in a neighboring town. Somebody stole it.

I have a couple of these things near me and since they actually have the gall to flash a strobe light at traffic (no safety hazard there ) I can tell when they're taking pictures. I've already seen a few where no police officer in the world would have wasted his time writing a ticket, yet the flashbulbs are popping.

Honestly, there should not be any revenue in law enforcment. As soon as you inject the dollar into the equation justice goes right out the window. I don't think that anybody gets becomes a cop to raise money for the gov't. Yet that's what they're told to do.

I could spend days on this, but the simple fact is; you can't have fair justice when there's money involved. [/RANT]

I think they should be out fighting real crime......catching the dirtbag's that steal from us all.....not catching speeders and looking for impaired driver's.....what a waste of money and manpower.

I do not know about insurance surcharges in NY but I am surprised they can charge you a surcharge when they don't know who was driving the vehicle. In NC if you get caught by a redlight camera or a radar camera there are no insurance points assigned since the points go with the driver and they don't know who was driving the vehicle. I personally hate the things because I have seen several accidents where people know the cameras are there and slam on brakes when they had plenty of time to go thru under yellow and the car behind slams into the back of them.

THE INSURANCE COMPANIES HERE HAVE A PERFECT SYSTEM, IT APPLIES TO ALL DRIVERS HERE IN THE STATE, WHEN YOUR FOUND GUILTY OR PLEAD GUILTY TO ANY MOVING VIOLATION TICKET,WHICH HAS ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO ON IT AND IS TIED DIRECTLY TO YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE WHICH HAS YOUR WHOLE LIFE HISTORY TIED TO IT , A COPY OF OF THE TICKET GOES TO ALBANY, OUR CENTRAL POINT OF GOVERNMENT, AND THE CONVICTION IS PLACED INTO A CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT IS ACCESSED DAILY BUY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES.THEY WILL NOTIFY YOU WITHIN DAYS OF YOUR CONVICTION, YOU CAN'T GET AROUND IT, THEN THEY APPLY A SURCHARGE THAT WILL BE APPLIED EACH YEAR FOR THE NEXT THREE 1/2 YEARS.

OUR TRAFFIC CAMS ALSO ISSUE SPEEDING TICKETS AS A BONUS. YOUR RIGHT, YOU DO SEE THE FLASH AND IT DOES CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER DRIVERS.

THERE ARE RECIPROCAL STATES SUCH AS N/C, THAT WHEN I GET A TICKET THERE IT CARRIES BACK TO MY HOME STATE, MOST OF THE ENTIRE EAST COAST STATES ARE DOING THIS.

BOTTOM LINE... ITS ALL ABOUT THE INFLUX OF CASH BACK INTO THE STATES COFFERS.

I HAVE HEARD SOME STORIES ABOUT JUDGES NOT GOING ALONG WITH THESE TICKETS, YOUR FINES ARE RIGHT THERE WITH OURS, ITS JUST CRAZY TO PAY THAT MUCH FOR A TICKET LIKE THAT. AROUND HERE YOU SEE ALLOT OF CARS WITH MISSING LICENSE PLATES.

NOT TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT BUT I JUST READ HERE IN NY THIS PAST MONTH 10,000 TICKETS WERE GIVEN OUT FOR USING A CELL PHONE AND TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. MANY MORE WERE NEVER CAUGHT BUT THAT IS ALLOT OF FINE MONEY ON THE WAY TO THE STATE.

Wait till they start issuing speeding tickets toll to toll for those using EZ pass.

They probably already thought about this but didn't want to waste all the money invested in EZ pass cause nobody would use em.
