SPECIAL CHARTER

This post isn't about fishing it is a reminder of where I came from, pride and a reminder to us all not to forget our War fighters. We had 4 young US Marines onboard yesterday. Two were getting ready to go back over for thier 2nd and 3rd tours in Iraq and one had just returned in May. We exchanged greetings I noticed they had a look I recognized and asked if they were in the military. Yes we are Marines, I gave them a hearty OOOORAH and told them I was a Navy Corpsman. For those that don't know there is a special bond with Marines and thier Doc. We exchanged stories for the better part of the day. One thing that kept coming up was how motivated and hard charging the Docs are. I felt an overwhelming scense of pride to have been a part of that team. I was told of one Doc that was hit with schrapnel in the face during a firefight. The blood was running in his face and he couldn't see but kept fireing until the Marine took his weapon away. This same Doc and Marine were at a check point when an IED went off and hit a HUMV. They rushed to the scene, they went to work on the Soldger who had both legs blown off and one arm. They saved his life and the Marine saw him later on a MTV special. I felt like I was back home for a day. Thanks you to all those still serving and keeping us free.
