Prices aren't too bad. Same stuff you can get at the local BPS at Arundel mills, with a couple additional things. Been there before. Did five days of offshore and flats fishing a couple of years ago. The backcountry is just unfrigging believable! I want to take the wife out. Even thought she doesn't fish much, she will love the scenery!

Here are some pics from the last trip. The last is the World Wide Sprtsman from the water!

    -D,
There's a place called LMR tackle at 1495 SE 17th St. It's a mid sized custom shop with a knowledgable crew. They put together a nice planer rig for me that's produced on some very slow days up here. If you're there around lunch time the Southport Raw Bar is a good stop just a block away. There are a ton of boat dealers, brokers and marine facilities in that area.

It's sort of been mentioned but as you head down 95 just a few miles from there, the IGFA will be on your right. If you haven't been, it's worth the stop. I think the SF.com crew has a couple records in there. Outdoor world shares a parking lot with it. Last year I had my boat just a couple miles from there so that Outdoor World became a regular stop. They're very cool places and have a ton of stuff, but it always seemed like it was only the popular gear in stock and if you started getting into rigging, or heavier gear, they didn't know or didn't have it.

Hey Capt D, just a thought here. When you leave Ft Meyers you are probably going to take 75 south. You can exit on Highway 19 and go south 20 miles to Historic Everglades City and Chokoloskee. Then you can take Highway 41 east right through the heart of the Everglades. Just watch out for the Miccosukee cop's in the reservation. Then you can take a left at your first stop light which will be Krome Ave and take it right to US 1 at the mouth of the keys. Just keep a rod handy. Have fun.

Well got back yesterday from my trip down south and didn't get much fishing in! I did rent a 17' GW for the day and took the wife and father in-law out fishing in the back bays of Ft Myers for snook and sheepshead. Only ended up with two saltwater cat-fish. oh well! We did take a two day trip from Ft Myers to Key West. We went across 41 through the everglades, down through Homestead, and onto the Keys. Stopped along the way in several places including Islamorada (of course). Had lunch at Johnny’s World (world wide sportsman), because the Lorelei was closed for hurricane damage.

All in all a good trip with the Wife!

I spend a lot of time in that place in the winter. There are two places across the street including Black Barts (all of this is on blue heron blvd.)

Capt D, The next time you come down, let us know! No rental boats needed. Got great Snook holes along highway 41.
Now I am thinking we need a trade a fishing trip for a fishing trip??? You come here, one of the posties takes you and yours out, then when that postie gets into your neck of the woods you reciprocate. Glad you had a good time though.
