Longfisher I certainly see your point. But if the government wasn't confiscating every cent it can get it's hands on and promising to do all these wonderful things which it's clearly incapable of, maybe these people would feel differently.

It's kind of like why we'll never really fix Social Security, too many people paid into it and now expect to get what they were promised out of it.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

Simple solution....bring all the armed forces guys home from overseas....for a couple months.....rebuild what needs to be rebuilt with the billions in savings....(don't forget the tornado we had in the Spring in Massachusetts where people are still living in tents)....pay off some of the deficit, then send them back.......

Yes we here gave and continue to give when the need arises in other part's of the Country, just as you did by taking the family in. I just have a problem with "pay as you go" friends, around the World getting "relief" unfettered, while taxpaying citizen's (who are paying the bill) are getting nothing, except red tape.

By the way, why do you seemingly have to point out a person's race when you post up interaction with them? I see folk's as folk's, skin color is just on the surface. Once again I get your observation. I'll do my best to explain it to those living in tent's (I'm sure there are some black familie's), while the mosquito population is at the highest most can recall around here. There is no dishonor in helping a neighbor out, glad you had a multi-racial experience. Now you're an expert about one more thing. Frank
Honestly, Frank, I can't make heads or tails of your above post. Seems without a point.

About race, I live in the South. Racism is abundant. It is absolutely a problem in my neighborhood given all the darned Mormons who flocked her after they built a Temple nearby. But it's not just the Mormons. It's really just about everyone here.

Taking in a black family was perfectly natural for us. We're giving, generous and socially responsible people. We aren't afraid of those who don't look like us or talk like us or even worship like us (we don't worship). We're quite different from others in this locale.

I mention it to make a point that there was an enormous need for shelter here only a few hours drive from New Orleans and we didn't let the color of the skin of those most effected and most in need stop us from offering that help. Most here did. We were the only ones in the whole neighborhood of more than 1,000 homes with plenty of spare rooms to do so.

It's absolutely worth pointing out both here and elsewhere.

Plainly said, our neighborhood is almost totally white and Republican. And, from my point of view most of them couldn't care less about the less fortunate. The couldn't care less about the less fortunate if they are like those you describe as living off the rest of us. And, they couldn't care less about the less fortunate when they, through no fault of their own, get clobbered by a natural disaster when they were previously living middle class lives and paying taxes just like you white people do.

Of course, I'm going to get in trouble for making generalizations. So, here's a nod to those rare caring white Republicans before I summarize.

It's simple, Republicans by and large just don't care one bit about anyone but themselves and those who look like them. They're selfish, greedy, anti-social and sociopathic. That's why I left the party. I left because I got sick of the sort of mindset that Republicans have that would prevent them from taking in another human being who was destitute and without human hope just because they're different.

It was certainly the right thing to do, to leave. I always felt dirty speaking and listening to others speak with such punitive contempt for those less fortunate...as you do Frank.
