I dont know about the annexing thing... but as far as Bush and Cheney making a killin'....I'm sure they will be fine. I dont know what ol Georgie and Dick are making, but I know that all of both of their closest friends and business assosciates are enjoying the most profitable 8 years that halliburton and the oil industry have ever seen.... no coincidence there.

dont look at it that way,

cmon, this country is bigger than that. even if you arent rich.........everyone wants to come to this country. i dont admire clinton, but not so short sighted as to blast what they have done. in fact, i bet george and dick combined didnt make as much as hillary and bill. think, think, think, my dad used to hit me with his ring until i cried. right over the back of the head. your in a dream, wake up to the truth.

    Annex Iraq?

#1...Our country's government doesn't drill for oil. Private/public businesses do.

#2...If we put people over there to drill for oil...GUESS WHAT?!? It still will have to be sold on the open market...which means $120+ per barrel. Now exactly HOW will that solve our oil problems?

Our problems lie within the fact that oil is a commodity and our government has no regulations for the oil industry like they do for the electric and other utility industries. Fix those two problems (don't as ME how) and fuel prices would be more realistic than they are today.

actually, i dont know where you live but the gov't doesnt regulate electric and gas. it also is a free market. its like trying to keep the lid on a boiling pot, with your bare hands. you can do it for a while, then you get burned. let it boil, unless you add more to it.......it all boils out.

The biggest problem I see in this country is that people vote on one issue and 1 issue only. In the next election many people will pick a candidate based solely on
    1. stand on abortion
    2. Irag
3 possible for or against race
4 possibly for or against gender
    5. too old
    6. oil prices
    7 religious views
    8 gun control
9 .the list goes on and people decide on 1 issue. we need to start considering more than one thing when we pick a candidate. When they interview people leaving the polls, often the reason they picked a candidate seems almost assinine. The country is so polarized over hot button issues that people don't give enough thought to what they do. I hope to make an intelligent decision in Noivember and I have no idea who that will be at this time. The only thing that is sure is I won't throw my vote away on a candidate like Nader who is only a spoiler and has no real chance to win.

I would agree hubris 100% about it being a free market, but there's nothing free about the market when these companies are spending gigantic sums of money in lobbying to make sure they get the regulations that are going to be more profitable to their cause. The government is supposed to work for the people not for the companies.

Go to a country that produces its own oil and you will understand.

    WHY ?

Can someone please tell me why we are still in Iraq. Why did we build the largest embassy in the world over there. How can you justify spending 720 million dollars a day. That's $ 500, 000.00 a minute. Am I truly missing somethig here. Ho nestly, I can't seem to find a defining answer. Is it worth the cost to be there, possibly to protect our country's future, like a mini police station for us over there. I am looking for information backed answers from anyone because I can't find any. Sure we all have comments on what we think we are doing there. I just can't find any justification. I guess my question is : What are we going to get in return for spending 720 million a day plus the cost of AMERICAN blood and forever changed families.

ok, good point. ted kennedy would make the claim of working for people. how many believe it? if it was true, he would be president. barrack found a way to appeal to people with one word, "change" who was it that said, the more things change, the more they stay the same. i think what eppefour said is also right. people put everything into one thought like abortion or healthcare without even knowing what it means. politics and religion are so much alike anymore. it comes in many flavors of disgust. all they really want is your support, and we give it to them. we make rock stars out of a guy because hes a politician! yikes!

Saudi's didn't give us the middle finger. Gas prices are rising because its Saturday and cloudy outside. For the last few months gas prices have been rising for no reason. The Saudi's have threatening to slow production down so there won't be a surplus, but they are the reason gas prices are soaring. Yeah, that makes sense.
