Now we're getting somewhere!!! A question like that to a turtler is like talking plastic lures or dead bait to a fisherman.
Generally speaking, you got your chicken neck/back baiters and your bunker baiters. Now, it does depend largely on the availability of cheap bait, but I was mostly a chicken baiter--- but I had a free supply of chicken necks from a local grocery store butcher. Plus, ther ain't nothing more appitizing to a snapper than chicken neck soaking in 90 degree water after 2 days.
Bunker got so mushy and attracted all the dang eels too. Now, good ole Bream caught while tending the pots is pretty darn good too.

What ya say John, You a chicken baiter or bunker baiter?

You damn right I'm salivating over this one

Legal size is 24" round. That is measured all the way around the shell of the turtle which makes it around 7 lbs. I don't keep anything under 10 lbs which is small enough as it is.

As for limits you can keep 3 a day per person with only a fishing lic. or you can fill out a permit and keep as many as you like. I do have the permit so i can keep as many as i can catch.

Now for the bait I just use bunker and any other kind of fish but mostly bunker. It was done the best for me and i can buy it very very cheap. It doesn't have to be fresh off the boat so no matter what shape its in it goes right into the pot.

Hot dang, there you are. Was wondering why we hadn't heard from you in awhile. Pretty work on the snappers! I hope you put a boot in the guy's ass that was robbing your pots.

What do you do with them ? Sell them for food or soup ? I have no clue...I grew up in a concrete jungle and didnt see a horse until I was 12 I think. Closest thing I saw to wild life growing up were the squirrels running accross the wires out back or the animals in the zoo. I think I would have much rather grown up in the swamp mucking around then playing wiffle ball and beam ball.
