Talking Thanks Jer

I'm sure you are right man. I tend to have a short attention span and get abit impatient. Sorry for that It is a great way to looad the box with meat and is fun as well, kinda like pickin apples after you get the hang of it. I normally on a trip got 1 or 2. Started trying them and it went from 2 to ten to 30 to 50+. Just takes abit of trial and error.

I need to learn how to do that with catfish (catch more than 1 or 2 on a surf fishing trip)

Mangroves

Thanks for the info Capt. Mike. We will put your method to the test on Saturday after we hopefully punish a few speckled trout. I'll post the results on Monday.

Wink One more thing, you see how close I am to that rig

And you got to communicate cause they are fast and strong for afew yards and thts all they need to cut you off. Get yourself between the legs, pull them out with the boat away from the closest one, same for ajs and grouper. Find the down current or down sea side depending on the wind and chum up inside the rig and work back to your boat, if they are there you will know in 1 minute, move on, change depths of platforms in the beformentioned depths. Once you find one platform full of doggies the others in that depth will be stacked as well. Remember, nobody knows how to catch them but a very few people, and they are all in La. now that I left Tx. This is good chit here....They dont eat at all unless you do this 95% of the time. How many you see on the surface have you gotten to bite? I bet, very few. Try this, it works

Blown Out

After all the good tips on the Mangroves, we got blown out this weekend on our offshore trip and had to settle for speckled trout. I guess that we will have to push off our Mangrove hunt for a couple of weeks as the holiday traffic will not make that any easier.
