What a day today was, its a day I probably will never forget. My partner and I met up at Starbucks today to recap the weeks events and meetings.
While we were sitting there we heard chatter in the background.
I love you but you don't understand what you are doing to me.
A young man approaches my partner since overheard us talking about how life is good!
Turns out the 3 of them are homeless, one has drug problems, the other have relationship issues.
These kids not really even kids 19, 19 and 24 have had a rough road in life. One was a foster, the other was kicked out of his house at 18. 2 of them from Brooklyn, the other from Georgia. Living on the streets of south beach in a tent.
They never asked for money never asked for a thing. They just overhead us talking and wanted what our lives have to offer.
I spent 2 hrs with these kids telling them how I got to this point in my life and where I have came from. Losing my family before I was 16 and working very very hard to be where I am today. Shit I am standing in South Beach, chitter chattering how things are going so well.
With these kids, they know no life other than what they are living. They just wanted to be loved and respected.
The were very very intelligent kids believe it or not with a past not so much to be proud of.
I spent so much time talking to them about life and how to go about it.
To many people focus on the past and don't look forward.
Something I learned a long time ago and it almost applies to everything in life. Don't focus on the wreck figure out a way around it.
At they end of the day, I talked to them about what they like to do. One like to cook, the other wanted to work in a boat yard or on a boat, the girl loved animals.
I sat there and told them how to accomplish the small things in life. Nothing comes easy and its always an up hill battle.
I left them with their suit case of belongings hopefully with some inspiration to change their lives.
I even left them with my phone number, and told them if they ever needed any help or had any questions or just needed advice or just someone to flat out talk to pick up the phone
I truly seen a lot in these kids.
The girl said to me, when I ask a rich person for a dollar, they say to me, I don't give money to the homeless.
I told them I do the same. Reason why is 9 times out of 10 there is underlying circumstances as to why they are homeless, drugs alcohol what ever it be. I won't help someone who doesn't want anything better out of life.
It was an amazing feeling and I feel really good today!
Life is precious and enjoy it!
