Cool THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE THAT FEEL GOOD!

What a day today was, its a day I probably will never forget. My partner and I met up at Starbucks today to recap the weeks events and meetings.

While we were sitting there we heard chatter in the background.

I love you but you don't understand what you are doing to me.

A young man approaches my partner since overheard us talking about how life is good!

Turns out the 3 of them are homeless, one has drug problems, the other have relationship issues.

These kids not really even kids 19, 19 and 24 have had a rough road in life. One was a foster, the other was kicked out of his house at 18. 2 of them from Brooklyn, the other from Georgia. Living on the streets of south beach in a tent.

They never asked for money never asked for a thing. They just overhead us talking and wanted what our lives have to offer.

I spent 2 hrs with these kids telling them how I got to this point in my life and where I have came from. Losing my family before I was 16 and working very very hard to be where I am today. Shit I am standing in South Beach, chitter chattering how things are going so well.

With these kids, they know no life other than what they are living. They just wanted to be loved and respected.

The were very very intelligent kids believe it or not with a past not so much to be proud of.

I spent so much time talking to them about life and how to go about it.

To many people focus on the past and don't look forward.

Something I learned a long time ago and it almost applies to everything in life. Don't focus on the wreck figure out a way around it.

At they end of the day, I talked to them about what they like to do. One like to cook, the other wanted to work in a boat yard or on a boat, the girl loved animals.

I sat there and told them how to accomplish the small things in life. Nothing comes easy and its always an up hill battle.

I left them with their suit case of belongings hopefully with some inspiration to change their lives.

I even left them with my phone number, and told them if they ever needed any help or had any questions or just needed advice or just someone to flat out talk to pick up the phone

I truly seen a lot in these kids.

The girl said to me, when I ask a rich person for a dollar, they say to me, I don't give money to the homeless.

I told them I do the same. Reason why is 9 times out of 10 there is underlying circumstances as to why they are homeless, drugs alcohol what ever it be. I won't help someone who doesn't want anything better out of life.

It was an amazing feeling and I feel really good today!

Life is precious and enjoy it!

    Blessings to you

You may have saved them from a life of greif. If the timing is right and they accept your words, you may well have set them on a path to a life of success. You can't change a person with out them wanting change. If they come to you wanting change this is where it begins.

LuckyLady you have been a blessing for me today.

Mary, the Good Lord will alway's use you when YOU make yourself available to other's. It's truely a small world, we all need help along the way whether we admit it or not. Some time's talking and listening is the greatest gift you can give some one. Frank

A tour in the U.S. military can instill some discipline, job skills, and a reason for a subsequent employer to take a look at you. Lack of direction, not patriotism, is probably why most young people sign up. It's not a good option for everyone, but if you're living on the streets, you probably don't have a lot of executive options.

That was the 1st thing that my partner told them. If you want to get food in your stomach, the whole nine then that is the best route to go.

The kids were actually very very smart and I told them that.

If it wasn't for the lack of manners, the suit case and the tent.... honestly talking to these kids you would never know what their lives were actually were.

Given up as a child to foster care, beaten and a abused every day of life, turn to a life of violence as part of not wanted to be beaten up no more.

The oldest was very well spoken, with the urge to make something out of life. Even the 2 younger said it multiple times if it wasn't for him we probably wouldn't be a live. He takes care of us.

It was amazing to sit there and hopefully make some sort of difference in their lives

Hopefully my phone will ring one day and get an update on them.

The best of all, they never asked me for a dime.

You get 5 gold stars Mary...

in our hurried up, trivial BS life that we all get wound up in sometimes we all get side tracked on not taking the small amount of time to just say Hi or have a great day.. Good on ya kid! Hi and have a great day..! Ya did good.

Good read Mary. Sounds like you gave them some good advice that will benefit them down the road. You may never know that the lives you touched that day may have changed their destiny. Our days are often to busy to stop and take time for others. I remember years ago I went on a bus trip with my son's 3rd grade class. I was assigned 8 kids including my own. I found out that i got the problem kids. One child the teacher said to watch him since he was nothing but trouble. On the way back I had befriended him and found out he was from a single mom household so when he got out of school there was no supervision. I told him the importance of getting an education and that there would be a time in his life that people would come up to him and entice him with gold jewelry and money to sell drugs. I told him when he reached that fork in the road to not succomb to the temptations. I never saw him again till 7 years later when I saw this young man approach my vehicle in a dangerous section of town. He came up and told me who he was and to thank me. He said that most of his old friends had been arrested several times and that he was doing ok in school. When he gradated from High school i was probably more proud of him as I was my own son because he did it under so much adversity. It goes to show that if you reach out and touch another persons life you can make a difference. Way to go Mary.
