When the diesel Particulation filter (dpf) gets clogged with sut it goes into "diesel regeneration mode" (regen) or something to that affect where the engine then compinsates for the sut build up by spraying additional fuel into this filter to burn off any and all unwanted sut/debris. Hince why the truck does not smoke. Your typical 6.0L with a chip exhaust etc... set on kill will raise your EGT's to about 1200* when towing or hammering down on it. On the 08's one reason you cannot chip them with big power tuners/chips is when regen kicks in your EGT's are around 1800+* so you have to turn the DPF OFF if your going to go with a decent tuner/chip. 6.0L's Exspire roughly around 1350-1400+* give or take a couple hundred or atleast pop a gasket. 2nd reason is the new computers in the 08's have memory burn, anything you upload into that computer you cannot get back out. There is no re-loading the stock tune. Warrenty = gone at that point.![]()
