So this is American Justice??? I've been re-summonded to be a Juror again... Not just asked... Demanded! Under penalty of fine, held in contempt, and forced to serve kinda bullshit!

These simple bastards evidently don't read SFC. They'ld know first hand that I'm opinionated and dead set in my beliefs. They'ld know that I have zero faith and am in contempt of the entire judicial system especially in south Florida... I have been personally and watched others railroaded by Judges seeking higher apppointments and seen 20 time convicted felons walk for time served of less than a month on crimes that would put us away for decades. I watch lawyers purposely blow a case to earn favors from prosecutors on their next one. I listen to cops in the coridors get their "lies" straight. The system is broke.

Then we get to the other stuff... I am sole operator of the boats in our fleet. Without me there is no running of anything.A zillion bucks worth of machines not being tended to properly. Then I'm the sole support for my family. Keeping the roofs over our heads, taxes paid, insurances paid, food on the table. You know, all that silly little shit. Oh but they'll compensate me... to the tune of$15 a day?
Have they driven past a gas station recently... More than $15 just to get there and back...
I may get a little cell time out of it for going off when I get there but damnit I will not be part of the bullshit system we have in place here...

Somebody else has my shitty luck with jury duty. Been called 7 times just to sit around for a week because they won't seat me on a jury. They don't like insurance agents on civil suits and I know all the attorneys and most of the DA's so I don't get to sit for the criminal side either. I would love to find out how I can get removed from their list.

I don't see how threatening me with criminal charges is gonna make me a softer more unbiased juror... I'm pretty sure that they take party affiliation on voter registration into it. I was never call once during either of the Bush or Regans administration but it was an annual thing during Clinton and now the yucky ones term.
They can't possibly find an unbiased person in me or for that matter anyone they force to do it. I know too many cops and lawyers to be unphased by the back room BS that goes with it... I'm Jaded. Seen far too many wrongs come out of the system.

A guy shot six times with a 357. One of the shots blowing off his hand. Ruled suicide. Giving millions in a suit to a woman who spilled coffee. A guy was beaten bad by two cops while hitch hiking... Ruptured testicles, ruptured spleen, seven broken ribs, fractured skull, bruised hear, collapsed lung, liver ripped in half... the guy was 125 pounds the cops were 270 and 240..., Death ruled an accident... A buddy got seven years hard time for telling an undercover cop where he could find pills, conspiracy to distribute. Meanwhile a 20 time loser nailed with a key of coke gets six months. Nothing just or even keeled in our local system.

So go in there and state that you are bias towards one stance of the situation being put to trial.

Everyone is subconsciously bias (or consciously). Admit it and say you are unable to deliver an impartial opinion.

Oh I promise that will be done. The problem is that I may sit for a week or longer to get called then dismissed. I'm being called in Monday. I am scheduled to be out of the yard Tuesday morn and scheduled for surgery that afternoon... This will quite possibly get me fined and jailed but I will perform my duty to my boss first, to my helath second, and them a distant third...

Dude if you have surgery scheduled then they really have no reason to keep you there.

It is very easy to call and reschedule. The juror office is very good at that.
The legal system , at times , reaches the wrong decesion but on balance is the best in the world.
Just imagine you or one of your family needing jurors one day...

John... I did reschedule. I gave them a date at the end of the month that I would be free but they wont budge off this... I'm gonna go but probably will end up with contempt of court when I refuse to go when I have surgery scheduled... This surgical proceedure started in September and its time to move to the next phase. I have not eaten right since the first and won eat again properly til the whole proceedure is done...
