    Deep Water Horizon??

A deep water horizon used to be the promise of adventure, lit up.

In the long run, the media is worse than the spill. Is the spill bad, sure but not as bad as it could be. This is not heavy crude. Heavy crude is much harder to clean up that this lighter crude. In time this will pass and not be as bad as the environmentalist and the media makes it out to be.

I hate this for all in LA and surrounding area, but it could be a lot worse.

Why is it that all anyone can scream about is "doom and gloom"

I consider you a good friend Lee-- a man I respect and a voice of reason: But I have to disagree with you on this one.

See, it's not a contest. It's not a contest on what could be worse, what has been worse, or what might be worse. No doubt the media plays things up with drama, but is that of any real importance?

In my view, this event is not about petty critisizms of the media, but rather a significant tragedy to the earth that we as outdoorsmen all love and revere.

I have followed this event as many have. I've followed with interest and questions. Questions as to how severe this spill really is. Questions as to who if anyone, is to blame. Questions as to where all this oil is going at the rate of 200,000 to 1,000,000 gallons per days for almost a month now.-------
Questions, just that, almost indifferent questions. The gravity of the situation never really hit home. That is, until I saw the following clip yesterday.

After watching this I was silent for almost an hour taking the gravity of the situation all in--- what this really means to the coast and waters we all love--- I just gazed at the screen without focus and thought as it all sank in.

No doubt the waters will clear, the sea bottom will recover, the marshes will regrow, and the fish and wildlife will rebuild over time--- there is no doubt about any of this for the world has a way of letting time heal all wounds.

No, this will not be the end of the world, but it is indeed a nasty wound that will leave its scar for a long long time.

    Think Progress:

BP's daily profits dwarf the daily cost of spill response, and at the current rate, the company could cover the entire cost of cleanup thus far in just under four days of profits.

Well you can call me out on what im doing and I can tell you what im doing.

I have spoken to many companies about Sponsoring writers.
    Why?
Tons of Captains will need Jobs.
i have been pitching none stop to companies about getting behind a project.
Sadly the marine industry stands very quite as always.

You want a forum dedicated to news?
Sure If you all want it ill post it.

But at the end of the day I feel i can help by employing people from these regions.

Ahh im sure up will jump on me and say that this is self centered or something but fact is each person I can employ would be one less out of work.

Im sure alot more can be organized but I am one person and I dont have a email box full of poeple looking to help me and or brain storm good solid ideas.

But employee some of the good people of the south is a start.

So if you own a company and would like to get behind internet content and have your name plastered on it please hit up tim@sportfishermen.com to discuss.

It's all good Glenn and let me try to explain my stance a little better.

We all remember the Valdese spill and the pictures of all the wildlife covered in heavy black crude, very sticky foul stuff. This is a lighter type of crude, not as sticky or as hard to remove, but still bad stuff.

No, "It's not a contest on what could be worse, what has been worse" but what I was trying to get across is that all we here is the bad side and how horrible this is.

Why is it the some of here and the media want to harp on nothing but doom and gloom, is that all that they look for, or is this the only way to get attention, I don't know but there is a lot of good thing that are being done that we don't here about.

What about the Cajon guy that found out the HAY will act like a magnet to this oil and can recollected very easily after it has been used, and then cleaned of the oil...wow, how cool is that, talk about using green. Did you all know that the state of La had more of enough to do one heck of a number on this spill.

There is a lot of this going on but the media refuses to look into this or report about it, I just don't get it. There is enough negative going on in the US, how about the media giving us some "feel good" reposting instead of all the doom and gloom, this was what I was trying to get across in my first post, just it was to short of version.

Remember, Alaska fishermen are and have been back to fishing the area where the Valdese spill took place and this will also happen to LA. Yes, it will take time but it is NOT the end of the world.

One last time let me say this.
IS this bad, yes...very bad and I hate to see this happen any where, but thank God this is not the black sticky crude.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the watermen of this area.

I hope this explains my thoughts on this a little better Glenn, as always, feel free to call...

One thing to bear in mind about the Valdez spill-winter storms in the area have to be seen to be believed-oil was literally scoured out of the rocks and pounded into atoms/dispersed far and wide.

Microscopic traces of oil can still be found today but that's what they are microscopic-Thanks to the endless pounding.

Hurricanes aside the GOM doesn't have that kind of weather for months on end year after year so things will shake out differently.

Glad someone pointed out that it's lighter crude where I live we don't hear that kind of distinction at all.

Free Jumper If I get in the car this week and head down. Do you know anyone who can take me out for video and photos?

I can deliver a platform and eyes but we are a platform others can use. I am not the person to organize something like this. But we no doubt can host it.

I will speak to my wife about heading down. Would love to know some one could show me around.
