    Server News Please Read

    Big Time News!

Ok over the last couple weeks or so we have been exp. Some major growth in traffic and we attempted to tweak our server out to help with the load but decided that going into the future we did not want to play around. We decided to go out and purchase a new server.

A couple hours ago we made the move to the new box and I hope it was painless for you all. I also hope you notice the speed coming back up. We have a few scripts to adjust to correct a lag, we have been getting but feel it’s the banner program doing this.

We now have 3 dedicated servers witch we own and keep with a hosting company in Newark New Jersey connected to level 3 bandwidth.

We have always run a dedicated server for sportfishermen.com but over the last year or so we have purchased over 300 fishing domains / sites.
So now sites like http://www.verado.com and our design company are stand alone on the old sfc server. Also have another dedicated server to house our hosting clients like Canyon Runner and Over Under, bunker head, Offshore Custom Tackle and many more who I thank greatly for there support.

As always when it comes to servers and equipment you can guarantee we will spend what ever it takes to demand top notch performance.

For you tech geeks out there here are the stats on the new server that houses the sportfishermen.com domain.

Processors Twin Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 3.2 Ghz 64-bit System bus speed 1333MHz4 System memory 4GB ECC Fully Buffered DDR2 (8 DIMMs) at 667 Chipset Intel® 5000X4 Chipset Intel® Server Network Connections 2 x Intel® PRO/1000 EB Ethernet connections with Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology (Intel® I/OAT) Integrated management type IPMI 2.0-compliant onboard platform instrumentation Intel® System Management Software 1.0 Intel® Remote Management Module Hard disk drive support 2 SATA 250Gb 3Gb/s ports via ESB2 (Raid1) Hotswap SAS Intel Chassis I/O slots 2 Riser slots utilizing Intel® Adaptive Slot Technology
    4 PCI Express* buses (2x8 or 4x4)
    1 PCI-X bus
1 Intel® I/O Expansion Module slot (PCI Express based)

Intel® dual-core processors are designed to bring powerful performance to servers by using multiple threads that provide additional headroom for running multiple applications simultaneously. At the same time, they are designed to provide the energy efficiency required to meet today's density, cooling, and operational cost challenges without compromise to performance.

The Intel® Server Board S5000PAL supports Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors using the Intel® 5000P chipset, it delivers high levels of performance, reliability and manageability. Together, these capabilities address the needs of enterprise-level computing in space-constrained environments, particularly those running Internet, departmental database, data-center, and other high-transaction applications.

Intel® RAID Controller SRCSAS18E. A full featured eight-port SAS/SATA intelligent RAID PCI-E controller providing high-performance and fault tolerant data protection.

    Features and Benefits:

Dual-Core processing Multiplies server performance by doubling processing ability on a single chip, without increasing power consumption.

Dual independent bus architecture Enables dedicated data flow to each processor, maximizing system performance.
Fully buffered DIMM memory Increases capacity and memory bandwidth to keep pace with the processor and I/O performance enhancements.

Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology1 Extends the amount of available server memory.

Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology (Intel® I/OAT) A platform innovation that helps get network data to and from server applications faster, while consuming far fewer CPU cycles.

Again I thank each and every one of you for your support.
I want you all to know that Jer and I are full time with this site.

Way to kick it up Admin! By the way, for the last couple of hours I've been getting "Run time" errors whenever I click on a link. I'm sure it's on my end, but what is it and could it have happened with the change over to the new server?

Not sure what IE is or how I'd surf it.

It happens every time I refresh too. It's a "runtime error line 57" if that helps
