Work for the day? It looks like Barack Obama is not being asked to be in the back, doesn't it?

It's time for personal responsibility in this country. Yes, many people have will continue to be prejudice, but such is a short coming that plagues people of all creed, color and cultures.

How dare this Rev. continue to spew this pessimistic rhetoric on such an historic day in our country. Sadly, I think we still have a long way to go. When will we accept that we must move beyond errors from our past and stop using them as political fodder.

I agree with you on that. I'm sick of hearing all of the racial remarks, etc. as well. But it's still going to be around for a long time unfortunately, and I don't see it going away anytime soon. I wish I could say that it will get better tomorrow. But the reason the racism is out there is why this is so much more historic than compared to inaugurations in the past. Very few people would ever believe that a black man would ever be elected as President. So many more death threats, more attention, so many more people coming to see a part of history(whether you like it or not) is why this is such a big deal. He is officially the President now and we have to see what the future brings. Hopefully, things will change for the better, but I'm already prepared for all the racist photoshopped pics, comments, and VHF radio talk to come in the next few months. It's just how it is and there's idiots going to say what they want. But that's what makes America great. I hear people say if they elect a n*%$*r to the White House they're going to leave the country. i say go ahead and move. Any other country and you're liable to get killed for going against your gov.

Unforunately, that is not reality. It would be the same if he were hispanic, asian, or even Jewish. I wish it would be different, but it's not. But I do like the fact that my mom, grandmother, and others lived to see something good that they thought they would never see in their lifetime.

I think the reason you are not going to see it go away soon is that there is too much money to be made keeping it alive. You'll never see the day that Jesse Jackson, Charlie Wrangle, or Al Sharpton stands up and says. "My Brothers and Sisters we have finally accomplished our goal. We have shown that we are equal in everyone's eyes. We have proven to the world that the Black Man can get to the top in today's world."
There is no money in claiming victory over past. It is in their own best interest to keep fueling the fires of hatred. I for one wish that they could begin to tout their accomplishments rather than continuously rehash discontent. I'm with Dave on this one that speech was a major downer on an otherwise truly historic day.
