Noticed how badly he flubbed the oath? I think he stumbled because the Chief Justice stated his full name "Barack Hussein Obama" and he intended to leave the "Hussein" out. Oh my, funny how that happens when there's no teleprompter.

His speech was pretty uninspiring. Stock market yawned and took a big dumper. So much for hope and change. He better drop that stuff and get to work fast.

Ooooooo.....he said his middle name "Hussein". I'm sure President Obama is headed to his office to call up all his terrorist buddies right now.

Work for the day? It looks like Barack Obama is not being asked to be in the back, doesn't it?

It's time for personal responsibility in this country. Yes, many people have will continue to be prejudice, but such is a short coming that plagues people of all creed, color and cultures.

How dare this Rev. continue to spew this pessimistic rhetoric on such an historic day in our country. Sadly, I think we still have a long way to go. When will we accept that we must move beyond errors from our past and stop using them as political fodder.

The implication here is that the whites do not embrace what is right. Hmmmmmmm. Let's see. The blacks who ended up as slaves here came from defeated African tribes who's conquerors sold them into slavery. I guess the white's were responsible for that? Slavery ended with the passage of the thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1865. The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964. Literally a generation has passed and the blacks are still holding a grudge. In fact, Barack was born the year that Civil Rights Act was passed. He clearly benefitted from affirmative action in terms of the education he received. Without question his education was instrumental in his quest for the presidency. Now how is it that he was wronged by the whites?

How many people have you heard bring up slavery lately on their own? I read what was said as whites should embrace change as should blacks, indians, hispanics, and everyone in America. Slavery is in the past. It was a sad time in Americas history. But what people see so special about having a black president is because of all the racial predjudice that is going on TODAY! Not 100 years ago. Slavery is a point of reference, but it's not everything. There is racism in America whether it's directed towards blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, etc. Todays inauguration does show hope that things will change as far as race is concerned. All that matters is that President Obama can help make this a better country as President.

Because people can't let go of history and there is a lot of money in this. I've heard this brought up a lot on here and I never said anything, but think about it for a second. If you assume that every other channel is "white" since BET is "black", and Miss America is "White" since there is a "black" Miss America, then instead of bringing up why this is happening.....look a little deeper into it instead of what's on the surface. BET was started at a time when MTV and mainstream television wouldn't play certain types of music because it was deemed "black" and wouldn't be attractive to advertisers. Back then you had TNN(remember that station). That could've been seen as a "white" station easily as well. Racism in the past is unfortunately a money maker to big companies looking for an edge on the competition. Here's just one example. Let's use rap music for instance. MTV wouldn't play rap videos because they didn't think that "white" america would buy in to it and therefore advertisers wouldn't use their channel for commercials. BET allowed Rap artists to make music videos, allowed R&B artists to make videos, and it also let big companies make commercials that they thought would attract more black customers. Now that Rap and R&B is a multi-billion dollar industry, it's on MTV and every other channel on TV. The same thing goes for Black Miss America, Hispanic TV stations, Jewish TV stations, and even gay/lesbian stations now. It all makes MONEY! Is it wrong?... yes. Will it change?....as long as it's bringing in money and ratings, no time soon.

Now as far as black history month goes, I'm all for it. Black history month educates people about what ghappened in the past, but isn't meant to exploite what happened in the past.

    He didn't flub the oath.

Roberts actually read it incorrectly and Obama didn't repeat it b/c of that. Roberts was off camera, but it seemed like Obama smiled as a reaction to Roberts who may have realized his errors.

I agree the speech was a big flop. Nothing but blanket statements with socialist ideas. It's going to be an interesting ride here for at least 2 years.

Racism is definitely kept alive by politicians for their own gain and it's truly sad.

I didn't vote for the man, but I believe there will

be benefits. If it gives the young black man or woman someone to look up to other than a gang banger rap star that's great. If he presents a role model and by his example helps put back together the black family thats great. If the power of proper English becomes more important than ebonics that's a plus. If I don't have to hear how whitey is keepin' the black man down that would be progress.

I am a bit skeptical of his ability to govern; however, and the painful truth is too many people voted for him exactly because of the color of skin and not the content of his character. If the election was truly about character, we would have elected the war hero with all the principals.

I agree totally. It's all about money, and unfortunately it perpetuates negativity between races. The same negativity that the Reverends speech has the ability to invoke.

All I'm saying is give the man a chance to succeed. Give the economy a chance to recover. And everybody stop being so f-ing pessimistic and let's turn this thing around.
