Conversation overheard on VHF Guard (UNICOM - emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai .

The conversation went like this....

Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

US Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

US Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter......... "Send 'em up, I'll wait!"

Iranian Air Defense Radar: (no response .... total silence)

I think if I were an Iranian pilot that was getting ready to go up and intercept...I'd tell my commanding officer "Sorry Sir, I can't seem to get it started"...or however they talk.....

My son's best friend is a tank commander in Iraq. Shortly after Bush reported "Mission Accomplished" they began a waiting game to go into Iran. Sean says "I wish they'd do something so we can go in there and get it over with and come home." I wish the rest of the country could hear the stories the kid tells, it's a septic tank over there full of human weasels and scum...but it's a good job for him, God knows he likely wouldn't have one if he comes home now....

Iran announced last week that it would begin reprocessing it's low yield Uranium stockpiles into about 20% purity. That's gonna send the Israelis up the wall.

Iran says they need it enriched so as to irradiate other elements so as to produce medical isotopes for their health system. Such isotopes have long been denied Iran because of international sanctions. So, what we in the west tend to take for granted, barrium enimas etc. for diagnostic purposes, the Iranians must do without.

Still, it's going to drive the Isaelis nuts.

Barium is fairly common and easily got. No one needs enriched uranium to get barium for an enema or an upper GI. Don't know where you got that data from but it is total crap.

I do agree with you, that Israel doesn't want a nuclear Iran.
