Not me Mary but they got Paul's pens North of you and he did a lot of work getting them this year with the help of another guy. Real big hit in the pocket for him and he's not happy. Second year in a row somebody cleaned out his pens. Last year about 300 in prime season, this year 400. He had some custom tops made for the pens this year but nothing is fool proof.
Hotrod - Real easy, not sure if you do any chunking down there with butters or overnight but same basic rig - 50# flouro, circle hook put through their back and let 'em live line out there in the slick and keep peeling off the line, you can also put 'em down under a balloon (similar to a shark set-up) set em down 30-40 feet and just wait for the run off. Great bait. We do the same thing with mullet if we can get them big enough if there are no squid out there. Also, they are used with weight chunking for bluefins over the lumps. They are tuna and striper candy. For stripers most put them on an open bait runner and send them down to their death as they go over a rip into a striped ones mouth. They keep well in a bait pen especially if you feed them. $3.50 - $4.00 is a nut for these things if you don't catch them in the late summer and have a safe place for them. Somedays if you don't have live spot you ain't catching. Eels just don't cut it all the time. When you are fishing the tides and only have 4 or so good hours they are worth every penny. If the bluefish are around you don't even put 'em in the water.
Never F with a man's boat, his wife, or his spot in prime striper season
