AVENGER!!!! YOU MUST BE AN OLD SALT!yeah it's called a storm glass. You read the fibers in the glass. It comes with a guide card instructing you how to interperet it. I had heard of them but never seen one. my wife got this one for me for christmas. Mount on a north facing wall. This particular one is made by the same people who made the one on the ship that Charles Darwin took around the world studing animals! THE BEAGLE (they are still in business making storm glasses!) The reading is supposed to give you a prediction of what to expect in the next 24hrs. i mounted it Christmas day and check it daily.
IT HAS'NT MISSED YET! UNBELEIVEABLE! Anyway,I think it's cool and plan to mount a high quality barometer under it. When i get home tonite I'll post up the interpretation guide and specs(i'm a weather junkie!) thought it would be cool to share with you. Thanks for patticipating

Geez, not that old I hope. I'm looking forward to seeing the guide. Can you mount that indoors or do you have to freeze your @$$ off to see when the blizzard is coming?

Cool! If I ever get down there I'll definitely look you up. BTW, it's a pretty safe bet that it will be a while before I'm in the area to collect, so you can give mine to 'BOX or fishskipper or any other SFC member that stops in to see your storm glass. Thanks.
