Seagull S#!t

I couldn't take it any more, I had to do something about it. I researched and researched, and nothing on the market was going to fit the bill for what I needed.

I have a Grady White 306 center console, and the bastards sit on top of the radar dome and shit all over the canvas top. After a week of it, it Fahkin Stinks!!!

So I decided I'd build my own mouse trap. I'm comfortable giving up my patent...

Here is the deal

Took a 3x3 inch piece of scrap azek siding (pvc trim), and drilled 5 pilot holes. I used wooden shish-ka-bob skews as the prongs.

The pilot hole drill bit was one size smaller than the actual kabob skewer. I pivoted the drill just a bit to enlarge the outer edge of the hole to allow the skewer to enter in - sort of like a funnel. I wanted them tight so the skewers wouldn't pop out while driving.

I had the 4 outter holes drilled at about a 70 degree angle and the center hole is straight up and down.

I also wanted to use wooden ones so I can replace them yearly or as needed, or take them off when I shrink wrap my boat.

Then I took some epoxy mix that's available at the boat supply store. I can't remember the name of it, but it mixes up with a hardener. I cleaned off the top of the radar dome, and gooped up the bottom of the new contraption, and stuck it top of the radar dom. It is barely noticible, but I'm sure will be noticible to the gulls, when they take a skewer in the arse.

I don't have a picture of it on the boat, but I took these less than marginal photos w/ my cell phone to show the yankee ingenuity.

I also put 4 small eyelet screws in it. Just incase I need to run some fishing line from the skewer contraption down to the size of the tee-top for extra repellant effect.

Enjoy -

Ed

some people use fake snakes...

I have seen some use owls also, but the snakes seem to work good. I do like the idea of sharpening the spikes though...lol
