    Sea Witch Hair

Does anyone know of an online or by-phone supplier of sea witch hair? Looking for the big knot, like a melted mares tale, to cut different lengths.

Thank you for the link. I am trying to kill some time in the shop tying more colors that work while repairs are done in N.C....Then if 'she'll' let me, it's off to Hatteras.

Todd - good looking website. Have you ever toyed with lead head molds? I am playing with some different size holes on the back end of the sea witch head to barely fit the broken off bill on a hoo rather than the witch riding on the base of the bill.

SNL is about the cheapest I could find for hair, either straight or crimped. I haven't ordered from them in about 2 years so I am not sure if they have the new "crystal" hair that's all the rage.

I've played with plenty of lead molds. The hole in the sea witch is set by the size of the pull pin your use. You can dremel the channel out in the mold to accomodate a larger pin, and a pin can be made from weld rod. It sounds like you are trying to get a bit of a concave hole back there like the Islander lures. The easiest way to do that would be a chamfered drill bit in a press probably on the already poured head. You couldn't incorporate that into a mold beacause it wouldn't open.

Thanks for the input. SNL is about half the cost on crimped hair $10 vs. $20 on a 1lb. bundle at Do-It (http://www.do-itmolds.com/index.php?...1869.2.169.125) and I am playing with a tack welded cone on the back end of a pin to make the nose cone...trial and error. I'll post a photo if it works.

I use a low speed taper bit to give me the cone for the bally to slip into. I have three different style head molds and they make from 1/4 ounce up to 8 ounce. I will post up some pics when I get the lead shop rolling(feb.)

Yea, please post photos when you can. I guess you fish the Baltimore a fair amount? My luck last summer landed on a Big Eye bite in June just off the Bump. They wanted blue/white & blue/pink witches and nothing else.
