[QUOTE=Chilli]
As far as approaching local charter captains, it can't hurt to try. Just be sure to market yourself approriately and you may find success.
QUOTE]
(I hope I used that quote feature correctly)
Since most of you seem to own charter boats, what would be the best way approach owners and to market myself? I hate to think it but I fear that combining my "inexperience" with the fact that I am female will be a strong mark against me in any owner's eyes.

Not necessarily.... Everybody starts out inexperienced. Some folks have the advantage of being able to be brought up in a family business some don't.
Approaching charter captains in order to gain sea time in not an altogether bad idea. However, most of the help they need will obviously be fishing oriented. This needs to interest you in order for the venture to be successful. Assuming that you are interested in pursuing that angle, I would encourage you to be persistant. If you are persistant, polite, honest and keep and open mind, it is a matter of time before you land in the right place at the right time. You may not get your break right away, but keep trying.

thank you
I just wanted to say thank you for the suggestions ... Friday I am meeting with the captain of the local water taxi - keep your fingers crossed for me!
