World Cat 270 HTS boat problems

    Fowlscay,

First of all you are completely misinformed and clueless about numerous facts. I have had this boat to several Volvo mechanics, had it surveyed by a naval architech, and 2 independent surveyors, a fiberglass designer and they all say the same thing...this boat has a manufacturing DEFECT!!! Period!!! Did I forget to mention DEFECT!

I spent nearly $7,000 in repairs to fix the quality work Town Creek Marina performed, and both of my service crews said the work they did was freshman level work, and 13 months later TCM has not reimbursed me one penny for that work. So how proficient is a mechanic when his work has to be re-done before you can even put the boat in the water?

Let's expose the way W.C. stands behind their product, all your beloved Phyllis at World Cat wanted to do was a bandaid fix on the fiberglass hatches but W.C. would not take responsibility for the resulting engine damage, turbo problems, starters that were replaced because of W.C's leaking hatch design. W.C. wanted me to pay to have the boat shipped back to Washington, which would have run $6-8,000 and I could have had the fiberglass work done here cheaper than that. It is obvious that you sell W.C's so I wonder if you sold any of these pieces of crap, and if you did I bet you have an unhappy customer. This design problem is going to get national attention from many venues. This site is small potatoes compared to where this is heading. My advice to you is liquidate all of your W.C. inventory ASAP because when people see that W.C. does not stand behind their product you will have a near impossible time selling their boats. And as for Phyllis always working to resolve problems? That is a crock of horse spit. When someone says that, I know they are somewhere in the W.C. soup kitchen line( no offense to the homeless). World Cat's warranty should say "you bought it, not our problem, if you call you will get our service line and Phyllis, the mother hen, will say Blah, Blah, Blah. Sorry it's not a covered problem."

Now let's talk about the uprightness of Town Creek Marina and their fabulous crew there. First, Lisa Alley, the head sales person, lied to me more times than I care to recall about the condition of the boat, lied about the work that she claims they did, never disclosed the issues of water entry that she knew existed from dealing with the first owner, claimed Jeremy her mechanic fixed things that he didn't and can't provide copies of parts receipts, she will not supply service records on this boat, sold me a new triple axle trailer that is not heavy enough for the boat and 13 months later Steve Tulevech still has not replaced my trailer with the appropriate one, Jeremy stripped the motor mounting lags on the port engine motor mounts when he R&R'd the engine, he also replaced the rub rail over the top of screws that should have been pulled, left screw head sticking out, stripped the screws, etc..., he ran screws into my fish boxes when he reinstalled the transom shield, when they loaded the boat on the trailer they rammed the sponsons into the bunks so hard it took a 2" wide by 7" long by 1/2" deep gouge out of the starboard sponson and about half that size out of the port sponson, then instead of telling me( this occured as I was signing papers) good ol' Town Creek tried to hide the damage with black spray paint. Steve Tulevech told me to my face "this happens alot and it will probably happen everytime you load the boat on the trailer" and those are his exact words. I thought to myself "What? What kind of idiot would damage his boat everytime he loads it on the trailer? I have never damaged any of my boats like that." Town Creek was hoping I would drive away and not notice it til I got away from the marina so they could claim that the boat left their hands in near new condition, but I did see the damage before I left.
So Fowlscay you are obviously misinformed to a handicapped degree and it is obvious you are only trying to protect your interests in selling W.C. boats. I wish someone at World Cat, like Andrew Brown, would have some integrity and admit their design was flawed, and fix this mess they created for the people who still own these lemons.

To all 270 HTS owners out there, I would suggest that you get on this site and post and you can send me a personal message because I know the stress this boat has caused you both mentally and financially. I have much information that may benefit you in resolving this mess. I have never been so happy as the day I became an EX-WORLD CAT OWNER! I will never buy another World Cat boat and neither will any of my fishing buddies who have had to watch this garbage take place. If someone GAVE me a World Cat boat I would bury it in my back yard for my kids to play on because in my experience that would be the only place I could depend on it to be safe and reliable. My son's montra is "buy a World Cat and you will never go fishing again".

Watch for my up in coming thread on "NMMA Certification and boat manufacturers scandal". I have uncovered some pretty disgusting things about the worthlessness of a boat having NMMA Certification and the process a boat goes through to receive that certification. I think the average boat purchaser should know what I have found out, as I believe, this is the boating industry's best kept dirty little secret.

Heck, no need to go that far--just bring it down here to Florida, lock it up three ways to Sunday and it'll be gone by sunrise the next day!

    Stop boating?

I have been fishing and boating over 40 years and I have no plans on quitting. Just because I have run into something worse than a crooked used car lot doesn't make the whole industry bad. However, every industry needs to clean house and throw out the trash when it is found. There is definitely some trash floating behind this scandal that smells of rotting fish carcasses that spread from Town Creek Marina in Beaufort to World Cat headquarters in Tarboro N.C..

I was just called the other night by someone who owns one of these boats and they have been trying for several years to get World Cat to step-up and fix the problems. These owners could not even keep the boat running long enough to get 100 hours on it. Now why do you suppose Andrew Brown at World Cat will not have some product integrity and fix these lemons that are on the market? Doesn't he realize that people's safety is at risk when the engines are subject to salt water entry while under normal operating conditions?

Andrew get off your Princeton high horse commode and take care of your customers before someone dies in one of these boats.

Fortunately for me my insurance reviewed all the surveyors and other reports I have obtained and they are totalling this floating pile of dung because it is the experts opinions that this is definitely a design flaw! However, I am not finished with Andrew Brown and World Cat until they straighten out the problems with the other owners who have contacted me. Until that time I am not going to let this fish float belly up!

Hey Andrew, why don't you get on this site and explain to these fishermen why you continue to blow these owners off regarding the line of LEMONS you built? Do you have it in you?

The fire IS a raging monster!!!

No, actually its boring..and sad, i am a Marine Contractor and have seen lemons..every product out there has,at one time or another, had serious flaws, and most of the time the company sets out to correct those flaws. In your case the previous owner had major issues..and he didn't tell you? shit, seems your beef is with him. AND if he did tell you..then why did you buy it? THEN..why travel 2000 miles to buy a boat...then have it serviced so far from home..none of these questions add up.in fact it sounds more like the proverbial "never happy" customer that i always give there money back and tell them to get lost. .I too have boated for 40+ years, and guess what, when shit goes south, i try and WORK with the people who are responsible for errors,99% of the time it works out...Town Creek has a great local rep, 1000's of boats pass thru there..and i guess they made an exception when it came to you,and screwed up.Give it a rest before you burst a valve, and for the love of pete..stop the rant on SF,'cause all your doing is destroying your credibility,if in fact there was any to begin with.

It is obvious you haven't read my threads very close. If you are bored then stop reading. It is blatant you missed alot of detail or you feel you must protect TCM or W.C. for probably financial reasons. Honestly I could care less whether you like or agree with my thread. I am in the right in this!

If all manufacturers have lemon problems then tell me this, why is World Cat not stepping up and taking care of these problems? Don't give me this crap about me just being an unhappy customer. Only an idiot would say that when I tried for 13 months to get World Cat to fix all the issues caused by their design screw-up. I have been incredibly patient.

Am I unhappy? Darn straight I am. Will I give it a rest? Absolutely not! Go back and re-read the facts. I have over 90 e-mails back and forth between W.C. TCM and myself. I am in the right on this.

If Town Creek is so upstanding then tell me why when they sold me the wrong trailer they have taken 13 months and still not sent me the correct one? It seems you feel you are all knowing so this one should be easy for you to answer. So far Steve Tulevech at TCM hasn't stepped up.

Did you even read all the crap I had to put up with? You must be someone tied to W.C boats. I really don't care one way or the other. Why don't you tell the other 8 people stuck with these lemons that they are just whiners. Maybe you can tell the person who called me this week that Andrew Brown and Phyllis manning at World Cat always take care of their customers. When she gets done laughing she can tell you of all the run-around they have gotten from W.C.

All I have to say is STOP THE B.S.

Hey brother, one last thing, your recommendation to take my boat to Mexico and let it get ripped off is a problem for me, as this is dishonest. I would assume it would be also for my insurance company as well. I believe they call that insurance fraud, or at least the intention to commit insurance fraud.

Looks to me like any credibility you had just went South of the border with your suggestion. I hope you don't sell boats because... well it is pretty obvious there would be problems with integrity.

Stop spewing until you get your facts straight.

Yer right, just as I thought, another guy who has nothing of significance to say on the subject.

Actually, I am far from psycho, but I call you and anyone else a spade when I see a garden tool.

I guess you have no response to the FACT that you seem to endorse insurance fraud. Any fraud investigators out there looking at marine 4003? Probably already under investigation. Well perhaps you were just trying to be funny. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and I would appreciate a similar courtesy.

The real Fact is World Cat has known they made a series of boats that were defective, so did Volvo, and they have shirked their responsibility to fix them. They should have recalled these boats and made it right for the owners who have sunk their hard earned cash into them.

I really don't give a flying fig what you or anyone else thinks. I bet there are a few people out there that appreciate this info, as I may spare them the headaches by putting info on the web, so they don't get trapped into buying one of these LEMONS! If you don't like it, too bad. At least I have the BALLS to stand up against this kind of garbage.

It looks like you don't stand for the same justice I do, and because I don't go about it the politically correct way, as most pansies do, I know some of you are not going to like it. So what. I'm not a Democrat.

For anyone considering a World cat? Try looking at Maxweld Maxcat, or Baha Cat, or Kevlar Kat or Buffalo Boats etc... They seem to stand behind their boats.
