Fowlscay,
First of all you are completely misinformed and clueless about numerous facts. I have had this boat to several Volvo mechanics, had it surveyed by a naval architech, and 2 independent surveyors, a fiberglass designer and they all say the same thing...this boat has a manufacturing DEFECT!!! Period!!! Did I forget to mention DEFECT!![]()
I spent nearly $7,000 in repairs to fix the quality work Town Creek Marina performed, and both of my service crews said the work they did was freshman level work, and 13 months later TCM has not reimbursed me one penny for that work. So how proficient is a mechanic when his work has to be re-done before you can even put the boat in the water?
Let's expose the way W.C. stands behind their product, all your beloved Phyllis at World Cat wanted to do was a bandaid fix on the fiberglass hatches but W.C. would not take responsibility for the resulting engine damage, turbo problems, starters that were replaced because of W.C's leaking hatch design. W.C. wanted me to pay to have the boat shipped back to Washington, which would have run $6-8,000 and I could have had the fiberglass work done here cheaper than that. It is obvious that you sell W.C's so I wonder if you sold any of these pieces of crap, and if you did I bet you have an unhappy customer. This design problem is going to get national attention from many venues. This site is small potatoes compared to where this is heading. My advice to you is liquidate all of your W.C. inventory ASAP because when people see that W.C. does not stand behind their product you will have a near impossible time selling their boats. And as for Phyllis always working to resolve problems? That is a crock of horse spit. When someone says that, I know they are somewhere in the W.C. soup kitchen line( no offense to the homeless). World Cat's warranty should say "you bought it, not our problem, if you call you will get our service line and Phyllis, the mother hen, will say Blah, Blah, Blah. Sorry it's not a covered problem."
Now let's talk about the uprightness of Town Creek Marina and their fabulous crew there. First, Lisa Alley, the head sales person, lied to me more times than I care to recall about the condition of the boat, lied about the work that she claims they did, never disclosed the issues of water entry that she knew existed from dealing with the first owner, claimed Jeremy her mechanic fixed things that he didn't and can't provide copies of parts receipts, she will not supply service records on this boat, sold me a new triple axle trailer that is not heavy enough for the boat and 13 months later Steve Tulevech still has not replaced my trailer with the appropriate one, Jeremy stripped the motor mounting lags on the port engine motor mounts when he R&R'd the engine, he also replaced the rub rail over the top of screws that should have been pulled, left screw head sticking out, stripped the screws, etc..., he ran screws into my fish boxes when he reinstalled the transom shield, when they loaded the boat on the trailer they rammed the sponsons into the bunks so hard it took a 2" wide by 7" long by 1/2" deep gouge out of the starboard sponson and about half that size out of the port sponson, then instead of telling me( this occured as I was signing papers) good ol' Town Creek tried to hide the damage with black spray paint. Steve Tulevech told me to my face "this happens alot and it will probably happen everytime you load the boat on the trailer" and those are his exact words. I thought to myself "What? What kind of idiot would damage his boat everytime he loads it on the trailer? I have never damaged any of my boats like that." Town Creek was hoping I would drive away and not notice it til I got away from the marina so they could claim that the boat left their hands in near new condition, but I did see the damage before I left.
So Fowlscay you are obviously misinformed to a handicapped degree and it is obvious you are only trying to protect your interests in selling W.C. boats. I wish someone at World Cat, like Andrew Brown, would have some integrity and admit their design was flawed, and fix this mess they created for the people who still own these lemons.
To all 270 HTS owners out there, I would suggest that you get on this site and post and you can send me a personal message because I know the stress this boat has caused you both mentally and financially. I have much information that may benefit you in resolving this mess. I have never been so happy as the day I became an EX-WORLD CAT OWNER! I will never buy another World Cat boat and neither will any of my fishing buddies who have had to watch this garbage take place. If someone GAVE me a World Cat boat I would bury it in my back yard for my kids to play on because in my experience that would be the only place I could depend on it to be safe and reliable. My son's montra is "buy a World Cat and you will never go fishing again".
Watch for my up in coming thread on "NMMA Certification and boat manufacturers scandal". I have uncovered some pretty disgusting things about the worthlessness of a boat having NMMA Certification and the process a boat goes through to receive that certification. I think the average boat purchaser should know what I have found out, as I believe, this is the boating industry's best kept dirty little secret.
