I will be glad to pull this post and write an entire expose`on fishing for salmon or halibut off the Wash. coast and canada and even give my favorite GPS #'s, problem is..... well nuf said. And as for being hatefull? Absolutely not! I made a man a promise. Thus, the post. Remember, you have the option of bypassing my thread and reading others. There are some great articles on this site. As for you fixing my boat? Well, I don't see why you would give a flying fig about this thing. |

I dont know why I bothered reading all of this, but I did and all I am getting is that someone is pissed because the didnt do their due dilligence before they shelled out a large sum of money. Lets see; no research for common problems of a particular vessel, using an unknown surveyor, not inspecting the boat himself (I mean if the corrosion was that bad dont you think there would be some sign?) , passing on transfering the warranty because it costs a few extra dollars, turning down any offers of possible repair, and lastly threatening businesses publicly as well as slandering so many openly. Im thinking this guys not only going to lose his boat but maybe alot more.

I think you may have just put your foot in your mouth with the above statement. If the original owner told you that the boat leaked saltwater on the motors then why in the hell did you buy it? I'm pretty sure if someone told me that a boat leaked saltwater on the turbos that I'd say "Thanks very much and have a great day," and get in my car and start looking for another boat. And I do not know anyone from the said marina but if it were me I would have found my own surveyor. Not justifying that the surveyor was in any way tied to the marina and may have known about the problems but I would have found one on my own. And I also would have been there when the survey was being done and gone through the boat with him and would have said something to him if you skipped over something. I know a home inspector that makes sure that the new homeowners walk the entire house with him except for places that are unreasonable (attics, etc.), same should apply to a surveyor.

Aqua great advice on tHE surveyor, I bought my first used boat with a surveyor rec by the broker, Blew one of the engines 2 weeks later. Thankfully the broker made kind of good traded me back with a loss of 4000.00 for the rebuilt engine . this was a learning experience for me , Bought 2 boats since went inch by inch with the surveyor.
EVEN WITH THIS GARBAGE THREAD, SOMETHING CAN BE LEARNED AT SFC . |

I do wonder about this...
every time I get to the boat I open the engine room hatch, turn on the lights and look around.. do you see any leaks?? (PS: the brand new rampage had a back port sink drain in the tackle center letting water drain right on top the port engine and my back as I was checking out the systems!) fix these things yourself!!! look to see if you have oil, water, salt on your investment that floats... and how hard is a hatch to make let alone reconfigure??? the older I get the more smarter I hope to be... if you have a problem ..nip it in the ass right away!
