The scar on my left was from a torn Labrum and SLAP Lesion. Basically, my shoulder was drifting in and out of the socket grinding down the joint. My shoulder was way worse than most. The procedure 90% of the time is scope, mine was open due my shoulder being so badly injured. Recovery isn't too bad for the most part. Mine was bad due to the severity.

It's usually PT for 6 weeks, followed by no heavy lifting after. Mine was bad and i recovered real well.

Cuff surgeries i think are a little more severe and its a procedure done from the rear of the shoulder.

Thanks guy, I had a cortisone shot some years back with about a 5" needle coming out of what looked like a turkey baster, I suffered a long time with that...so I'm not really rushing into the next step......

I had both shoulders done and it sucked period. Rotator cuff-laberal tear. An average tear is the width of a pencil. Mine was the side of a golf ball. Recovery was 6 weeks in a sling and 6 months of PT. Thank god my therapist was smoking hot.

PS. Don't let you hard of hearing grandmother or in my case great grandmother tell people you had labia surgery. Seems labia sounds like labrum ...It really seems to confuse people
