    A sad day for me

I had to put down my English Pointer "Newcastle" tonite. She lived a very active and happy life but didn't quit make it to 12 yrs. old.She had started losing weight rapidly and wasn't eating no more, due to kidney failure,so I had to make that decision I was dreading, but I know she's waiting on me up there to hunt again one day and that she suffers no more. You don't think you can love a dog that much until you gotta make a decision like this.Sorry for the sob story but I had to get it out.

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news... My heart goes out to you.

You have some kind thoughts and prayers heading your way from VA.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry about the loss of your friend. I know how you feel with getting attached to them. Our Golden had to be put down at age 13 because of cancer in the jaw. I cried like a baby!! I wanted to wait.......well, we waited a whole week and a half and ended up with a yellow lab. The yellow is so much of the family, that he is treated like a person!

Time will help you heal and maybe get another buddy to make more memories!

Sorry for the decision you had to make. It was the toughest one I had to make a while back. I still miss that big lug. No matter how much mashed potatoes I put in his bowl in his last weeks, he lapped the bowl dry. I feel for ya man.

bad news friend, we lost a dog last year on a quail hunting trip in texas. Great dog, had been training it for about 3 years. We left him, resting in peace, in texas....best i can tell though he is resting in the best wild quail country around....could be worse.....
It stinks losing such a great dog; but now I have two puppys that are a lot of fun to mess with! They are already pointing, holding, and retrieving....the other day my ***** dog gave me the most beautiful water retrieve! Keep thoughts in the positive, more great dogs are in your future!
