    ?'s on getting a Captian License/OUPV

thinking about doing it after putting it off all these years and have a few questions.

1, has NE1 used "Sea School" and was it worth it? and 2nd, I have type 2 diabetes, will that keep me from getting a license?

I did the Sea School class and it was well worth it. Very professional company and they can help you with the entire process. Not sure about the diabetes, but I don't see why that would stop you. I would call Sea School and ask them.
Randy, I got the Thumdingers, cool product, I'll be in touch.

    Randy,

CCBC offers the class at dundulk and maybe even catonsville. That's who I took it through as a good friend of mine wrote the course. I would highly recommend it and you test at the school at the completion of the course.

Call Jim Fitch and he can give you all the info

I too used Mariners School well worth it! Like Snakeeys said. I signed up at the boat show and there is a discount if you do. Here is a list of the classes they have.

Did the Sea School thing. Was quite informative and well worth it in my opinion. Don't think the Diabetes will stop you from license....don't have factual info on that though.

Either way, do it for the knowledge, everybody no matter how experienced lears something.

Thanks for the tips and info guys
Im leanning more towards Sea School as there going to have a class in Baltimore in jan/feb '08 and thats close tome, + there price is $665.00 so thats not to bad.

last question, I know I need to documnet 365 days underway, now if I do 8/10 hrs on the water (a day), doesn't that = 1 full day?

I have Chapmans book and Knights, so I have been stuiding and being an ex Boatswainmate in the Coast Guard this should be a breeze

if things work-out as planed, my wife and I hope to move down to OCMD soon and I'd like to start-up a guide service inshore

again, thanks for all your help, you guys and this site ROCKS
