Cuttin chunks!
getting caught in it is one thing. leaving in it with no radar is another. we take it slow and sound the horn but I feel like Im running thru an obstacle course half the time dodging the other guy I know never even saw us.
we left OC one day last year on another boat. fog was extremely thick out about 10 miles. watched everyone on the radar. when it lifted there must have been 10 boats around us. us and about three other boats had radar. we were all running. Its weird when you cant see anything then you come out of the fog andf there are boats everywhere that were only dots on a screen

Fish the Edge
Team Sportfishermen.com
I left IRI one day in light fog, so I thought. Passed the bell buoy looked aft and could not see the red bell buoy in 100 yards.....I turned around and took it slow to the far side of the buoy until I could see the jetty. All was clear, I ran through and I fished the inside till 11:00 am . Then it lifted and we went thresher fishing @ the bass pots, 15 out This was the same day the blue fin record was broken in Del. A captain from IRI (IKE) had that catch this day.
To answer your question. It Is stupid to run in fog with out radar . I learned that day and will not need another lesson to make a decision whether to run in fog with out radar
