The issue with Pit Bulls is the average owner. Not all dogs are alike especially with a hundred years of breeding. A true owner knows his dog inside and out. Today many owners are away from the dog to often. They need constant assessment who is the owner and who is the dog. Not all owners have this commitment. The breed is extraordinary. For instance. Hunting dogs breed for that purpose. Feed them from the table and keep them in a warm and cozy house with the kids and by by great hunter. The true hunter/owner knows his dog. The Pit was not breed for its intelligence, Fact. It was breed for bringing down bulls. Yes. I have not heard of bull pitting in my life time. But the fact remains the same. To the breeders. Today color and size are breed into the line. It sells !!!!! along with the name. This is the average breeder. Maybe over the years, many hundreds of years this breed will calm down, but I doubt it.

Visit any National Park and disturb the wildlife - get too close to an elk momma; too close to a grizz sow and cubs. I have no idea what your point is here. You made the comment that you didn't decide the law to make dogfighting illegal and I made the point that neither you nor I have made any law yet we must abide by them all or suffer the consequences, whether we agree with them or not.

Secondly, I am not going to check the accuracy of your statement as to where there are laws against dogfighting but....I would be willing to bet that nearly EVERY state has laws against cruelty to animals.

I have three questions:
a) When did domesticated animals become more important that humans?
b) When did laws change giving them equal status with humans?
