    ROGER CLEMENS,

i just heard on cnn that his legal team suffers from HUBRIS. what does this mean to you? is roger digging his grave here? if he is ever.....and i repeat, that right now he is innocent. can he go to jail for this? why would he put himself in that situation? is this what the politicians should be doing? and dont give me the "its about the kids" nonsense. im with charles barkley on this one. if you have kids......YOUR their role model! it doesnt take a village to raise children, it takes parents. he never had to put himself in this situation....what is it?

You are an attorney; when did it become OK for a federal investigation into something and or someone who may or may not have done/participated in an activity which was LEGAL and not against the law or any "rules of the game" during the time period parameters?

Now, the feds are thinking of bringing a man up on charges because they do not like the way he is addressing their inquisition?

Saying "We would like to know the extent of PED's in baseball" is one thing. Saying that YOU (an individual) MUST answer our questions regarding a non-illegal (ie:legal) activity that we think or that someone said you did in the privacy of your own home, is bullshit.

Nobody asked any athlete to be the second coming of Christ, or swear on the bible during the time they are sworn into office. To destroy a man's career and public persona over this is horrible. THE GOVERNING BODY turned a blind-eye towards this activity. If anyone needs to be grilled, it is MLB, not Roger, or any other player.

But Federal Charges against someone regarding a private activity which was not illegal at the time because they don't want to discuss it? Is this right?

what you say is correct. there was no crime since it was not illegal at the time. and MLB is culpable and looked the other way asn an enabler for many years. and you have to admit that they are winnng in the court of public opinion because they are showing cooparation with federal investigators. and that is why the Andy Pettitte strategy is the right one, i give Pettitte kudos for handling this in the court of public opinion. everyone thinks he is telling the truth!

as far as Clemens goes, all he had to do was keep his dumb mouth shut and not make himself the lightning rod that he has. he denied, denied, denied, and that is a fine strategy when you are dealing with ONLY the court of public opinion, but what he has done in the last two months is put himself in the crosshairs by engaging in the COVERUP. that is what they call the "washington" crime, it sunk Nixon and man many others. Glenn W, you have seen that too, do you agree?

because the coverup violates other statutes that say that people cannot do anything to obstruct justice or to impede a federal investigation or it creates separate liability for separate crimes, so that is what chithead Clemens has done in my personal opinion.

now, just today the attached article comes out. Clemens' lawyer has gone so overboard with this straretgy that liability for "inimidating a federal investigator" could now be on the table. the first rule of chinese hole digging is to STOP DIGGING! that makes Clemens a dumb arse in my view.

Hubris is exaggerated pride or self-confidence often resulting in retribution. It is a common theme in Greek tragedies and mythology, whose stories often featured protagonists suffering from hubris and subsequently being punished by the gods for it. The word carries the connotation of the perpetrator comparing him/herself as equal to or greater than a/the god/ess/es.

    Yep.....sounds about right.

generally for most people in soceity (as opposed to for participants in the professional sports leagues) they are "controlled substances" under US law and the non-medical possession and use is illegal, although prescribed use is not. for instance, prednisone is a commonly prescribed substance for reducing inflammation and other reasons in severe cases. same with dexamethasone, both "steroidal" medications available only by prescription and prescribed frequently in the medical profession. just for perspective, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen and similar medications available over the counter are widely used and available without prescription and are commonly referred to as "Non-Steroidal" anti-inflammatory medications.

the NFL, or MLB or others can through their negotiations with their player unions (or for that matter municipalities or other governments through their negotiations with public safety unions, firefighter, police, etc. public unions) can (and do) decide how they want to treat their players/employees when they use these substances (or any other substances that can impair or enhance their "performance" and the integrity of their public safety function or their professional sports leagues). they can regulate these substances more than the law does, however it meets their business needs, but not less than the law requires.

    read this:

    http://www.isteroids.com/steroids/St...the%20Law.html

my point about the Roger Clemenza (like that Godfather?) story is that Clemens is in my view increasing his risk of being prosecuted because of his big mouth and agressive response to these allegations and possible lying and now possible obstructing fed investigators by "intimidating" them. his crime might not be the steroids, if he ever used them legally (could be if used without prescription) but instead the COVERUP. lying to Congress and other possible charges is serious chit, as you know.
