RODBUILDING MEETING..bittersweet

well we had our last RODBUILDING metting for the year last night
we usually put on 2 DEMOS about rodbuilding during the metings
during the year we did DEMOS on thread art.
inlaying insects
wood handle making
2pc rod making
offshore rod making
we had special guest at meetings
ken preston made the trip to one meeting and put on his demo from highpoint
it was a great night
there we more fantastic demos shown. and everyone always leaves learning something, and having a good time
the last meeting of the year is alway a party/barbaque
we all just get together and have fun, trade stories. and bring different things for a swap/sale

a few month ago after a LONG battle with cancer. my rodbuilding teacher mentor and friend passed
he was a major help with the club always helping the new students. and teaching during our winter classes.
he lived for rodbuilding
while he was getting treatment he was not able to build
and after his passing we found a rod partially finished on his lathe
it was ment for his grandson
we were able to get the rod and finish it..
the grandson and widow were invited to the meeting where we presented the grandson with his new rod that his grandfather had started and almost completed for him
i am sure the boy will have great memories when using this
